Default Noise under car below center console

I had an interesting experience recently where we had a recent snow storm that I drove through on the way to work. After work I started my 2010 Outback and immediately heard (and felt) a low rattle/vibration as if I had a muffler problem. The noise/vibration appeared to come right below the center console under the floor. The rattle seemed to speed up as I revved the engine in both park and driving down the parking ramp. After a couple of minutes it went away and hasn't happened again. We've had previous snowstorms/cold temps and this never happened before. Here is where it gets weird. I was telling this story the next day to two co-workers who own 2010 Outbacks and they experienced the very same thing on the very same day as I did with the same circumstances. Anybody else experience this situation? Theories?

If you peek under the car I believe there is a assortment of heat shields in that area. I bet your dealer could adust or replace if necessary.

Yes, I had something very similar happen to me. But I looked under the car and saw a chunk of ice lodged over a part of the exhaust system. I dislodged it with a stick, and the noise went away.
But I have no idea how the chunk of ice got there in the first place...

Same here. Just happened Saturday-Tuesday of this week when we had daytime highs of 10 deg (F). I thought that there might be ice somewhere lodged *inside* of the tailpipe. The noise was kind of vibrating/grinding sound. Now that it's warmer outside, the noise has gone away.

I will be sure to keep an "ear" on it to see if it returns. Please do the same.

I had a similar issue a few weeks ago, however the noise was only at very low speeds. Apparently a heat shield had become slightly bent and was rubbing against the drive shaft. I had driven through an extremely large puddle at a high speed the day before and it must have what cause it. Brought it to the dealer and the adjusted it and no other isses yet.
