Default 30,000 mile service

So my car is going in tomorrow for a 30,000 mile service, however I don't want the dealer "special" (aka get ripped off) what services should I have them do?

what is mandatory? what is optional? thanks!!

Basics: Quaker State Ultimate Durability 5W30+MOS2, PureOne oil filter, Purolater air filter, Valvoline Maxlife Dex/Merc ATF, Mobil 1 75W90, Michelin Primacy MXV4.
Mods: Fumoto oil drain valve, 2004 Forester XT shifter, +30 Phillips H1 low beams, HIR1 Phillips 9011 high beam upgrade, Nokya Hyper Yellow 9006 fogs.

Also: More rust and parking lot scars than I care to think about.

from the looks of the page listed above your post, only thing different I have to do at the 30k other than the regular oil change is have my tires rotated and the brake fluid changed. everything else is inspect


edit - a part of the service listed is "Air Cleaner" is that the in cabin air filter?

That's exactly what I had done. Oil, filter, rotate tires, brake fluid, and I changed my own engine air filter and cabin filter. The other fluids say to inspect and change if necessary. Print the list from the schedule, use a highlighter for the things you want them to do and take it in to them.

thanks! im trying to find the part number for the cabin air filter (easy replace) i'll do that one myself

Brake fluid change should cost around $150.00 You can do the oil change, tire rotation and filters yourself and save $$$. Tire rotation being around $27.00 when I had a dealer do it for me once...

Can someone explain to me why Subaru is so hard pressed on changing the brake fluid every 30K. I have never owned a car where this maintenance was anything less than 100K.
