Default 2012 Bluetooth Voice Commands

Hello,

We are having significant difficulty using the bluetooth voice commands in our new Outback. We've tried using "Call by Number" "Call by name" and the system continuously gets the name or number spoken incorrectly. It is very frustrating . We have set presets and can dial with the phone, but the whole idea is to be hands free isn't it? Maybe there's a software update?? Just got the car at the end of March.

Thanks for advice.

A couple people on this board have had problems with bad microphones. I would talk to your dealer. Mine works great, it almost always recognizes my commands, even with windows/sunroof open or with the A/C fan blasting. It is very sensitive to background conversation, however....if my kids are talking in the back seat it will not work.

I noticed the same thing with mine, purchased at the end of April. I tried a few times to dial by number and gave up.

Maybe it is a difference between the premium and the LTD. Mine (LTD) works fine.

I'm glad to read this. My voice commands simply will not work. It's frustrating. I just gave up on it.

I'll add this to my list for the dealer.

My wife has reported no issues with our limited, so I can't suggest anything.

No, you do not have to pull over to make a call.

For speed dials:
- Off-hook button
- Press speed dial
- Off-hook button
- When done on-hook button.

Otherwise you can use the phonebook or dial from the phone.

The only limitation I've seen so far is that you can't pair a new phone to the HU while in motion, but you can switch between existing phones.

So I had the dealer check out the system last week. They of course said there is nothing wrong with it, they said that we are probably talking too fast. They said we are supposed to talk very s l o w l y... We haven't actually checked it out yet, but when we do I'll give an update.

I have found its just easier to use my phone to call someone then try over and over with the voice commands. You can still have the conversation over your speakers.
