Because then someone would complain that they missed their turn just because they were on the phone. "Why can't the nav tell me directions when I am on the phone?"

There is a fix that was sent to all dealert this past week. It has to do with the CF card. Mine is being flashed on Tuesday. Contact your dealer and ask for the upgrade and also show him that only numbers show up on the screen for calls, no names, that your text messaging feature does not work, that your navi will not advise you to make a U turn but keep you gpoing in the wrong direction until you can make a series of right hand turns to go back from where you came, and then tell him how you paid for a navi system you expected to work ALL the time, not just when the vehicle was stopped. Let him know your salesman never told you that you had to pay full price for something and only got partial use. When he talks about safety issues, ask them why they could sell you a car with a gas pedal and a brake and allow you to drive that ( as a weapon without a release), but cannot allow you to usde your navi.

Hmorse - did you actually get your nav software updated?
What changed?

I complained enough that they replaced my entire navi, only to find out that the replacement was not as new as what was on the showroom floor. We are addressing that now. I spent three hours with the service tech testing three different phones also. None worked properly.

Heh. Ooops. Think they would have checked that one out first.

Truth be told, they send out a 2011 navi for my 2013 vehicle the first time, and of course, it wouldn't fit! You would think they would send the very latest device for a replacement.

My NAV reboots spuriously. When it works, my wife likes OK; I keep a Garmin on the glove box as I find the NAV unit too much trouble to use. It is too loud (even at the lowest setting which it looses when it reboots and then it is earsplitting), to slow, and too awkward.

Same here - I keep extra Garming Nuvi1430 in my glove box although I am slowly getting used to the Navigation. I am working to find out how to disable the speed sensor for that unit. I should have a solution (I hope) in about 2 to 3 weeks. I have several people (including my son, who works in that industry) working on it as we speak!

Here is how you lower the volume properly: Hit "MORE" in the upper right corner. You will then see a volume slider at the bottom. It takes effort but get it almost as far as you can to the left. Too much will shut the volume, but that is the best way, NOT using the other easier to find volume switch.

I found this trick as well, but it's very difficult to do. I roll my finger over the slider rather than trying to slide it. Still, it takes a lot of tries. Of course there's always the question of why we have to do this at all. Obviously the volume control isn't calibrated correctly at the factory. My dealer agreed and submitted a tech complaint to SOA but nothing has come of it.
