2013 2.5.

25.8. 90 percent highway.

Hate the transmission. A mild hill and its downshifting and climbing to 4K RPM.

Meh, it feels like a solid car. Overall Im happy. I think the new Accord is a better car for the money but I value all wheel drive. If I didn't live in Colorado I would not own an Outback, no chance.

I have a 2013 SAP 2.5i that is getting overall less than 24MPG. This is on 95% highway miles, and totally flat driving conditions. I'm an ideal driver.

It's very disappointing. I know of a few others having issues with 2013 models. I'd like to hear of more, I feel like the MPG claims were vastly overstated.

Default Mileage is TERRIBLE!

Have a 2013 2.5 with a CVT and city mileage is BETTER than highway! The car now has about 3800 miles on it and at 70mph gets 22 mpg hand caculated.

Until 2 weeks ago never really took it on a highway trip just to work and back never more than 15 miles on the highway and I was running around 26 and I was very happy.

Drove from Florida to TN and say 21.5 mpg at 75 mph, 22 mpg at 70 mph. Called in SoA and taking it in to a dealer. I realize it will not probably get 30 mpg highway as rated, but should at least be getting 27-28 mpg on a FL flat as a pancake highway at just above sea level, and no cold temperatures.

SoA rep seems to claim that there may have been some reports of low city mpg, but no one complained about low highway mpg? Did anyone else call in, is there a case number?

Are you 2013 2.5i owners going by the trip computer avg or are you manually calculating?

I just filled up my first full tank on my 2013 2.5i

Mostly city driving on my first tank from dealer parking lot said I was avg 25.5 by the time I hit empty.

As of now It says my avg is 26.5 all flat roads and Ive put about 100 miles on this tank this far.

Im going to manually calculate when Im almost completely out to figure out what Ive been averaging.

ALmost nothing but flat roads in the florida panhandle.. Ill be driving on I-10 this weekend for about a 450 mile round trip and see how my average goes.

I was guessing with already mid 20's in the city that I should be getting low 30's on the highway..

A few of your guys recent post has me kinda bummed. I bought this car expecting 23 to 25 city and 29 to 31 hwy.

If I don't see these numbers I won't hesitate to strongly consider trading this thing in.

But so far so good and Im loving my new outback

Manually. City/mixed mileage is fine for us (mostly city/suburb), it's the highway mileage that SUCKS big time - also on FL flat highway I-75. So it is not the elevation or cold weather. In fact we were getting better mileage in hilly TN, but there speeds were lower.

Been averaging 22.3 mpg (50% city / 50% hwy - and a lot of short trips) in a new 2013 Outback 6-cylinder on Chevron mid-grade 88 octane fuel.

I know it's just me but it seems theres too much focus on MPG. If anyone takes EPA stuff serious they are silly. When I bought mine recently, all the comparable vehicles, as in AWD,lotsa cargo space, and good power, etc., this one gets the best mileage of the five I looked at. Based on EPA? NO! look at normal people driving the vehicle on Fuelly (real world stuff) Seems too many people think this machine should be a Honda Civic hybrid (who also have a class action law suit for not making EPA). Sometimes you just got to enjoy the wonderful/safe vehicle that it is and not worry about a couple mpg.

Ok rant done! I love my new OB like no other new vehicle I've purchased! brings a smile to my face every time I drive it !

Well part of the purchase was due to the mileage and why we got a 2013 over a 2012. What is even stranger is our old 2001 Outback with 182K miles on it with the old automatic, got better gas mileage on the highway than the new 2013.. That car even with age got better than EPA numbers. a few MPG less is one thing, but 30% less is a problem.

That sucks. As a big part of me purchasing this vehicle was for a reliable, safe wagon that Got pretty great MPG's on the highway. Hmm Im honestly now regretting not going with my first choice which was a 2012 TSX wagon. After taking the Outback for a test drive I fell in love with the extra room and the ride height over the tsx. But since the MPG ratings were almost on par with the TSX sportwagon I chose the 2013 outback.

I'm with ya man. The mpg was one of my biggest deciding factors on a vehicle that still provided good room. Mind you I wasn't looking for a civic hybrid or a prius

I was def sold on the fact of what the sticker read and what the dealers internet salesman told me as far as high mpgs were going

Im still looking forward to recording my mileage this thursday on I-10
I will report back how it goes
