I stand corrected on the Crossroads. It obviously can work, depending on your set up and needs. I was very concerned about putting two 48 lb. dh bikes up there with the load bars so close together. And I'm still not sold on the rail locking mechanism. My cargo box, on the other hand, had way to much of an ass end to fit.

Picked up our Titanium SkyBox Pro 16 today.
Only had time to mount it and take one picture.

Looks like I will be buying the Atlantis 1600 instead of an 1800 judging by the posts here. Anyone get an 1800 to fit without making adjustments to the rear struts?
this is nationwide and i too will be scooping something up. i am between the ascent 1100 and the atlantis 1600 for my 09 OB. I saw a car parked in the street that had the ascent 1100 mounted but i am not sure if it's tail was clearing. (I hope so) i'm in the same boat where the longer box is almost a necessity because of skis, etc.

gonna throw it on top and see if it will work on friday. *Crosses fingers*

Looks sharp...

What's the model?

Thanks for the response!

I have a BMW roof top box and was wondering how to retrofit it to the Outback.
Any ideas?

Default roof rack/cargo box

The current roof rack is an issue for me mainly because of the width, although front to back length is an acceptable problem. We have a Thule 1800 cargo box that would fit on the rack. Like ssrgeoff found the brake light on the tailgate would hit the box. However, it wasn't much and we could live with this. The bigger issue is the lack of room side-to-side with the box in place. We 'may' be able to fir one bike on the rack with the box in place. However, our bike carriers are Thule as well and are designed to fit a square load bar.

So this is the solution that I came up with:

I ordered a set of crossbar clamps from Subaru and mounted a pair of Thule loadbars front-to-back. These became my new roof rails. I then mounted a set of Thule Crossroad feet and loadbars. My box sits up higher and little forward so the tailgate doesn't hit it. I also have plenty of room on either side of the box for bike carriers.
