Mine does it in southern cali in bright daylight every time I go under a pass as well. Just for argument's sake about it not being designed correctly, my 1993 Lexus LS 400 never did that and worked perfectly in dusk conditions.

Anyone get this solved? I already had the sensitivity changed by the dealer and my lights still come on going under bridges. I have two other cars with auto-sense lights and they work beautifully.

I experienced the same problem and yes it is a problem. I've had auto lights on a Lexus, Acura and a Ford and none of them came on under freeway overpasses. I've gone to the dealer who set the sensitivity to the lowest possible setting but I'm still having the problem. I believe Subaru has an issue here that they're not acknowledging because this is not normal for auto lights. I'm tired of having other drivers "flash" there lights at me. SOA needs to know about this issue and come up with a fix.

Sounds more like a compromise than a solution.

come on.... A recall/fix because the auto light come on too early? What is the best timing/delay? by whose definitions?
maybe we should get Ob-ama to decide on this?
Maybe Subaru CEO should go to WashingtonDC to testify!

I seem to remember seeing in the SOA Outback manual that the sensor is on the dash-Australian ones have it in the windscreen near the mirror

I have to addmit that momentary flashes of headlights while zooming on a highway are very confusing to other drivers. As mentioned before - passing under freeway overpasses shouldn't trigger headlights on. If we have to turn off the automatic option to avoid this situation, what circumstances would warrant its usage?

Seriously, does the above quote help the discussion here. Let's leave politics out of the forums. My point is that in MY experience with other vehicle makes auto headlight settings were not this sensitive. Turning off the auto function to manually turn headlights on and off kind of defeats the purpose of "auto" doesn't it? It is a saftey issue due to other drivers thinking you are flashing them for some concern/urgency. I'm waiting for the day when the highway patrol pulls me over asking what the problem is. LOL it should be hilarious telling them on a sunny blue sky day that my automatic headlights come on under freeway overpasses.
