Does anyone have a set of these up on your Outback? If so, have you got a picture of them you could post? I'm thinking of getting a pair of these and am curious as to how they look.
I've got a pair of Big Powderhounds and because of the configuration of the rack against the cross bar I'm getting whistling. I figure it has to do with the clamps not creating enough space between the cross bar and rack. Has anyone experienced an improvement in wind noise with these compared to standard ski racks? Thanks for your help, guys. Harley |

I found one more pic, a little better view of the racks. The wind noise with boards is definitely noticeable when the sun roof shade is opened, once closed the noise is almost gone. Only thing i don't like about these racks is they don't use the butterfly clips to mount, so its a little more work to mount them (maybe it's a security feature to not use the clips). I usually swap my racks back and forth ( snow to bike, vice versa ), if i recall correctly the other style of racks use butterfly clips and it is a ease to change out. But I would buy these racks again since they look more sleek on the car.

That's a great shot. I think I'll go ahead and get the racks. It's time to upgrade my old Big Powderhounds anyway. Besides, the configuration of the clamps should eliminate the whistling I'm experiencing. Granted, there will still be wind noise, but I can live with that.

Anybody have issues with binding clearance when you mount snowboards upside down? REI has a 30% off sale plus a $20 off membership coupon so I might pull the trigger on the FatCat 6. Any arguments for using the powderhound or Thule ski racks over this? I've read the fatcat is hard to close with 4 snowboards despite the internal hinge setup.
Thanks! |

I have the FatCat 6 and haven't been bothered by wind noise, but have had an issue with my bindings. I have a really wide stance so I have to put the rear binding behind the rear ski rack, the front binding between the racks, and barely any nose of my board in the front rack. Kinda annoying but it works.

Can somebody confirm that Yakima Landing Pad 12 fits 2013 OEM roof rack application? It fits 2012 but not sure if it fits 2013 as there are now 2 positions on that rack with swing out cross bars....

Thanks! I picked up a set at REI on my way back to my parents' house for Thanksgiving. Put them on last night and they look great! Thanks for the response CMyLGT. I was just concerned about binding clearance and I guess if there is a problem I'll just utilize the hinge mechanism to lift it up.
