Hi. I have been looking into trading in my Honda CRV and came to the conclusion I was going to get an Outback until I found this forum. I have decided not to get Outback due to the severe shake issue you are all talking about. My question is do all Subaru's have this problem? Does the Tribeca?
You all seem like the experts so any thoughts would be helpful? Thanks |

If you are otherwise interested in the Outback, I would not be scared away simply because of this steering/suspension issue. It appears a substantial majority are not afflicted, and there remains reason to believe Subaru has the issue sorted out and is about to address it with a TSB.
No guarantees for the long run, but this is too good a vehicle to dismiss out of hand. A risk/benefit analysis may be in order, but I wouldn't write the Outback off just yet.

I had a 06 3.0 and a 08 3.6 Tribeca Limited and neither had the shakes...nor does my 10 Outback Limited 3.6 with about 6K miles...
My new Outback did have a slight vibration that was resolved by rebalancing the tires with a Road Force Balancing....

That being said, people should not shy away from the OB due to the shake problem. It does not affect all of them. Just take it for a LONG test drive before taking delivery...and make that part of the terms of sale.

I am a new OB owner, with no shake problems. (I did test drive the car at speed prior to purchase, thanks to the warnings I heard here). But I still don't know if it is only a very small percent that do have the shakes. There seems to be LOTS of happy owners out there (and in here).
