Default New Member..a couple of questions.

I currently have a 2002 Subaru Forester with 95,000 miles on it. I am looking to purchase a 2010 Outback Premium White with tan cloth interior.

I was wondering how the tan cloth wears and does it show a lot of dirt with everyday use?

I am aware of a recall affecting the CVT transmission...has this been an issue with many members?

I have also read on this forum that the steering shakes on some vehicles but there is no final fix yet.

Any advice or comments would be appreciated.

I have that interior in my Satin White Pearl 2010 OB. I'm real OCD about getting in the car dirty, food, drink, etc. and have applied Scotchgard the seats. It's not been bad thus far having a 3.5 YO and doing some mtn. biking out of the car. Approximately 8K on the odo.
We bought a 6MT car and do not have a shaking issue.

What CVT recall? I'm not aware of one.

I would just test drive your car before delivery. Take it up to 75 or so, and make sure it doesn't shake. The majority don't, but there are enough that do that it's worth double checking. That's not to say that the shaking issue can't develop after you take it home, but quite a few shake from the start.

I would treat the interior with protectant (don't pay the dealer's ridiculous upcharge for their service). My favorite is 303 Fabric Guard, but just about anything will help.

I like that no matter what color your interior, the floor carpets are black. That's where tan get's a little nasty after a couple years.

This is my first Subaru, and I'm thrilled with it. The CVT gives great mileage, while helping to squeeze every little bit of power out of the 4 cyl (and it needs it). The size is perfect for heading out on the weekend, road noise is acceptable, and the AWD will come in handy when the weather turns cold. I like the reliability of the Japanese cars, but am glad I have a car that's a little more unique than a CR-V, Rav4, etc.

If you can hold off for a while, I would wait to see if a real fix is announced for the shakes as promised.

Thanks. I do remember seeing that one. When I heard "CVT recall", I was thinking of a complete recall, and not the hose issue.
