I ended up test driving a 2011 Grand Cherokee yesterday. I drove a base Laredo with a couple a options. It listed for about 33k.

Looks good in person with excellent fit and finish. The cloth seates were very comy and supportive. The base 290 hp six was nice but it felt adequate but nothing special as far as power, plus the throttle input felt strange, almost dead in spots. Perhaps this was the DBW application or the newness of the truck. Very quiet inside and it rode very nice. Turning radius was outstanding. No blind spots but the view out is not as good as a OB.Turn signal noise was cheap sounding and the rear view mirror was on the small side and positioned too low. If you can keep your options down and get a small discount I found this to be an excellent choice and a tough choice between A 3.6 OB if I was shoping for this type of crossver/SUV again. My only concerns are quality over the long haul and even the base six gets 16 and 14 real world mpg city. If the quality holds up and they give it a 6 speed auto to increase MPG I would consider buying one.

Ah, Chrysler. I considered them in my search for about 3 seconds. I don't trust the quality of that product at all. Just watched a TV car show featuring the new 2011 Jeep GC. Looks good for sure, and if they do have the quality where it needs to be for the price range it's in then maybe they have a winner. I would wait in the weeds though and have this vehicle prove itself first.

I'm with you on that KPTKrunch. You would think they would have an all out war on quality since this is a top seller and a make it or break it vehicle. New design and first year is tough for all car makers (as we have seen with the OB). If they make it without any major recalls/TSB'S in the frst year I will revisit it again. I will need a another car in 2-3 years.
