Default Engine Brake?

Do the 4th gens have a engine brake? when i let off to coast before a light or stop sign the car jumps and slows like it has a engine brake. Is this normal?

Its the design of the transmission, and the ecu working together.

Engine / Transmission drag yes. Though not as much as the older Gen 3 and Gen 2's.

At the slow speeds what your probably feeling is the CVT winding down ratios.

Thanks Guys... I miss my Dodge Ram. I thought i would like the Outback better. I've only had it a week and only 400 miles. It may take some time.

Just so you know my 2010 OB with CVt replaced a 2001 legacy GT limited 5spd MT. It took me a month to get use to the CVT. I still hate the handling but the room for the kid and dog is far far superior to the old legacy GT.

It will take you some time to get use to it. The outback in Stock form regarding handling can't even compare to the 2010 legacy in stock form we own both. However the outback easily out drives the old solid axle land cruiser and would run circles around the old dodge truck any day. Give it some time. When gas prices jump next summer you'll be really liking the outback.

That's why I like the 6 sp MT. The engine does what I tell it to.

Maybe its going from 365 HP to 170 HP and i'm used to being higher up. Running circles around my old Ram with a Hemi I dont see it. The thing i liked about the truck is i could put what ever i want in the back. O Well its gone now. Now i have to get a trailer for my ATV and Home Depot runs.

Embrace it Tom just think more toys! This is my trailer collection
SubaruOutback.org Member Galleries - campingrigsmall

The utility trailer is an ATV tent trailer 4X6 sold by LifeTime built super solid empty with tent 880lbs. Can't even see it behind the OB from the mirrors 23-26mpg pending how fast your going. Also doubles as a high sided 4x6 utility trailer the floor is 2X6 pinned down by the front plate and locked into the channel frame in the rear. Tail lights are fully boxed in with heavy gauge steel plate. Super cool trailer. Got mine via costco on sale in March $1000 off Lifetime price bought it Thursday the following Tuesday it was sitting in the driveway on a pallet. Took me about 4hrs messing with it at night after dinner to build it. Work of art the way it goes together.

Great review on it here Lifetime Tent Trailer | PopUp Times

By the way its built by the same shop ie people who build the 6X8 Jumping Jack trailer if you have ATV's you've probably seen the Jumping Jack. The lifetime trailer is the smaller version for a single ATV vs the Jumping Jack is for two ATV's.
