Did this in my STI with generic dynamat knock off. The roof has fairly large open areas without support... it absolutely helps to have a vibration damper on these. No need to go nuts, just a strip down each open row did plenty good.

i didn't take any pics when i removed my headliner. i could not remove center dome light. screws were in way too tight. i had to carefully stuff the dynamat in between the few inches the headliner came down and the actual roof. i regret not putting in dynaliner or that cotton stuff, but there will be plenty of room. ill probably end up just putting more on the floor and in the doors. expensive and time consuming, but its nice that inside the car the sound hurts my ears, but outside with all the doors closed the stereo isn't too loud and all the crap isn't rattling like kids who have 15" subs in their rusted out shitbox cars. i also have to go 80mph to get as much wind noise as i used to get at 70mph.
