Tried everything suggested here and it still rattles! I will need my first oil change within a week or two, so I will have them check it out while I am there. Its amazing how that little buzz will make you lose your flipping mind.....

Default Passenger side A pillar noise

Just bought a new 2012 outback last weekend, brought it home and noticed annoying interior rattling noise near front right passenger corner of car . I brought the car back to the dealer this morning they identified the noise as coming from the A pillar. They called in the technical rep to take a look. Apparently the rep was familiar with this problem/noise. The rep thinks it is probably the bushings in a portion of the frame. Said it would be an easy fix. I pick up the car tomorrow, will let you know the outcome and the exact cause.

Just heard back from Subaru dealership regarding the rattling noise in the A pillar. The tech reps initial diagnosis of a loose bushing on the frame was incorrect, instead it looks like the rattling was coming from a loose metal brake-line that runs through the dash board, which was rattling on the metal frame. Dealership said they are documenting this event, and this issue will be sent out in the next monthly bulletin.

Hope this helps!!

I have the same problem with my car made in December 2012 and it's at the dealer right now. They said the typical, can't reproduce the problem so I am going in tomorrow morning to take the tech for a drive. Good to know about the brake line. Do you know how they fixed it Grillbo-baggins?

I was looking around yesterday and was thinking of removing the hood insulation. I found that all the push-in pins that secure it are loose. Thet are not tight when fully pushed in. The pins on my Crown Vic are the type with all the little bristles on them. These are the spring loaded type. Anyone else notice that.
The noise is exacerbated when the car is in a head wind and then the bumps tend to pause it at times.

Please let us know if it was the problem. Another thing i found was there is a black plastic cover on the top center of the engine that has a loose rectangle access plate on it. I am going to try that and the hood insulation clips.
Wandering, rattles and annoying seat back seams.
Sadly, I am starting to think i would have not had any problems if they were still being built in japan.

I went nuts looking for a buzzing noise that sounded like it had to be coming from the sunroof area. My wife and I pushed and pulled and tried everything we could think of but the noise never changed. Turned out to be the insulated cup in the console cupholder that was vibrating against the spring loaded plastic piece in the middle.

Mine seems to be corrected. It was a combination of loose hood insulation clips and windshield wiper blades. Go Figure.

I brought mine in last week when it was raining and wouldn't you know it - the noise apparently stops in the rain. Grrrr! Good to see some progress here on this forum, though.
