I also saw the PDF on how to change a light bulb and it looks Simple yet daunting. The current light output on the outback is not bad for a halogen bulb. Heck with the Osram Rallye H7 and fogs on together I'll have as much lumens as someone with HIDs. |

As for the steps to replace that stupidly placed bulb, my techs found it easier to go though the wheel lining to get access to the bulb. One of my techs has skinny arms and hands so he can just pop though the engine bay and though that tiny opening on the inner side of the front fenders. Lucky him. Beware of taking it to a dealership though. Our corporate office calls for us to charge nearly $80 for labor plus the price of the part according to Subaru's instructions on replacing the low beam bulbs. Screw that! I charge my customers $12 for labor plus the price of the bulb, which usually runs in the mid $20's excluding tax. A nice thing though with replacing the bulbs at a Subaru dealership though is that if you're a frequent traveler, Subaru covers repairs (including bulb replacement) for 12 months, 12k miles (from what I've been told by my associates, and that's what I've been telling customers, too). So if that pesky bulb burns out again, and you're out of town, the local Subaru dealership will be able to cover that under warranty. Please, though make sure you bring your original Subaru invoice that has the date of installation, mileage, VIN, your name and address, so on and so fourth. |

I haven't changed out my low beams YET,
I have wheel arch side molding now. I am not sure if this will interfere with pulling side fender. Anyone out there with wheel arch molding able to pull fender back ? Same Subaru process just like in the manual ? Pop one screen underneath and one on the side to gain access ? Do I need to take off wheel arch molding (by unscrewing them) to gain access to wheel arch ? or to drop whole front bumper. |
