Exclamation 2011 Outback 3.6R Lmtd Completely Shut Down Too!!

My car shut down as well, and, unfortunately, the dealer cannot recreate the problem one day later. Yesterday, I had just filled up to a full tank, turned onto the on ramp to the expressway, and brought the vehicle up to around 40MPH. When I went to accelerate to get up to freeway speed, the car hesitated (very briefly), the dash lit up, and the car immediately, and completely, shut down. Within a second or two I was stopped on the on ramp with no power, no steering, nothing. The car has 47K miles on it.

Once I had it on the shoulder, I tried to restart. It barely cranked, and then died. I tried this on occasion for about 30 minutes until my wife came to pick me up. Nothing.

The dealer took a look at it this morning. Said it started with no issue. Said there was nothing on the car's diagnostics that showed there was ever an issue. No warnings, lights, problems, system failures, nothing.

I let the tech know about the other posts I've read regarding the same issue, and he notified me there is also something mentioned on the corporate site......

Anyone else having the same issue?

You had steering just no power steering correct?

Guessing there is a electrical snag some place causing the cars systems to shut down and kill the engine. Odd how all of the folks mentioning this have 3.6's

Don't forget to let the gubmint know about it. Total shutdowns can and might cause a crash.

After reading these post, that make me worried/scared, I just did a 700 miles trip this weekend and I'm glad it did not happen to my 3.6R.

Friend just took his brand new super expensive over the top Jeep Grand thing to Tahoe for the first time this weekend to see the snow. He returned in a rental car so far the rumblings coming from Jeep is that it could be a while before he sees his ride again. All he knows is that everything went dead with zero lights or signs of life.

Pretty sure he dropped nearly 50K or more on that piece of garbage.

Wow...that's shocking to buy an Overland GC and have that happened! My brother had a similar breakdown in his Chevy Cruze Eco due to a bad component with only 120 miles on odometer. It was one-in-a-million chance defect. He got free ext. warranty out of it and has been happy since with zero problems. He is at 40k miles i believe.

Things happen. It sucks to no end but things happen...good or bad.

I had terrible luck with Jeep as well. And had Jeep die on me on the Interstate Hwy going completely dead...had to nurse it to the shoulder. Yes but I would not call that not highly dangerous. It has happened to me on several other old cars too all went dead. One almost caught fire from wires burning. One almost flipped over when the transmission shattered. But I survived.

Actually there was even another one I forgot about that died on the Interstate. 3 died all near the same spot...all at high speeds, lost all power or transmission shattered.
