I had her do it again, and this time had her unlock the doors, then pressed the brakes and the car shut off. So how is someone going to drive off in it (unless they have the keys) ? There always has to be that one ignorant person... |

This is a wonderfully useful trick.
I was wondering if anyone had a similar solution for the hatchback/trunk door in the back. Every morning I put my backpacks in the trunk before jumping in the car and the motor dies (after remote starting earlier) and I was hoping to avoid this. I looked around for a push sensor similar to that used for the front door but was unable to find one. Any thoughts? Christopher |

look way at the top, near the center I think. that's where my mother-in-laws Forester has its plunger. Unless there is now some type of tilt switch or non-contact 'proximity'/magnetic sensor.

Had the another person remote start from away (so the remote would not be inside/near the vehicle) while I sat inside to see for myself if the car would shut off once the brake was pressed, then again with the doors unlocked (just because). Seemed perfectly sensible to me. |

I'm sure it does, I was just trying to create a real world scenario where I remote start the car and someone tries to "drive away with it". So i wanted to see for myself if the car would disable when i pressed the brakes.. and it does.
I am trying to get around the car shutting off when I open the door, so I wanted to make certain that there are other security measures in place (I already thought so as the RS module connects to multiple locations.) |

If anyone has a solution for newbies that allows all four doors and the hatchback to be opened without killing the engine after remote starting, please let us know....photos of modifications and wires are always appreciated!
