Default Making the 2013 SAP Keyless Access non-operational

I know it is really early in the model year for this type of question and that it is a whole new technology for the US, but maybe there is a Subaru mechanic in here that knows the answer. On page 2-17 of the new owners manual it says that a Subaru dealer can change the keyless access to non-operational to let the drivers side door unlock all of the doors and the hatch instead of only opening the drivers door. Is this something that I can do myself or does it take some kind of device that only the dealer has to change it?

If I remember correctly, I was able to change the keyless remote (not keyless access of course) in my WRX and I was able to change the keyless access in my wifes Mini by myself. I just like being able to fix and adjust my own car because it lets me get to know it better.

Maybe if someone has access to the maintenance manual for a 2013 they could look it up for me.

Bump. I'd like to know the answer to this as well. Just used it for the 1st time and not being able to unlock all the doors at once is a pain.

Does two button presses unlock all the doors? This would be the only car I know of where you can't unlock the passenger doors with the remote. It's almost a deal-killer for me shopping for a 2013 Outback w/ SAP.

Unless they changed the software on the '13s it takes two presses to unlock all doors. So far all Gen 4's are the same. It's a safety feature. It has been discussed quite a bit. Some hate it, some love it but it still takes two presses. Sorry.

We might be getting confused with the remote versus the keyless entry where you just walk up (with the key fob in your pocket) and pull on the door handle. The "fob" way on the drivers side only allows the driver to enter the vehicle while the other doors remain locked. Now if you try to open the passenger door with the fob in pocket it unlocks all doors. Am I correct in this summary?

I'm not totally sure how the Subaru keyless entry works but my other keyless entry cars I can't just walk up to with the fob in my pocket and pull on the door handle. There is a small button I have to push on the door handle. One press will open drivers door, 2 presses all doors. If the fob is not in my pocket nothing happens.

I am referring to the SAP keyless access where you just press the button on the door to open it while having the key in your pocket. In the manual it does say that the dealer can change it for you so I wouldn't get too worried about it. I was just wanting to see if anyone knew how to do it without bringing it in, I am always interested in that kind of stuff. My car shows up in September so I am just going to have them do it before I pick it up and ask them how they did it. Hopefully it is something we can all do on our own and don't need a special tool for.

When I use the SAP keyless I don't push any button, you just put your hand on the door handle. With the fob in your pocket the door unlocks without pushing the button. When you shut the door after exiting the vehicle with the fob with you, you push the button to lock the doors. There is a 10-15 second wait time between unlocking the door and then locking it with the button. You are correct that the manual makes a statement that the dealer can alter the settings.

At this moment of operation, aside from the DS door what is the condition/status of the other 3 doors and hatch? Are they unlocked, or is another sequence/motion required (akin to the 2nd press on the std remote)?

Edit: Ok I see on the OP, the KE only operates the DS dr.

Dealer Customize Mode-How to adjust Fuel Economy Display
