I just bought my 2013 Outback 2.5i Limited with Moonroof two days ago. About two weeks ago, I emailed the 10 most local dealers around (all within 150 miles) and informed them that I was "accepting bids from local dealers for the lowest offer" and that I planned to purchase a car within the next two weeks. I was very specific about the model I wanted and told them what colors I did not want, but was open to the rest. I heard back from about 8 of them, and emailed the 2 lowest offers back to do some further haggling. I would up buying the car (my first Subaru by the way--I've been trucking around my 1999 RAV4 since it was brand-new) for $27,900, and I traded-in my Toyota (that had 217k miles on it) for $1,700. Because I put about 30k miles per year on my car with my current job, I ended up purchasing the 100k extended warranty for $782. The total out the door price (including taxes and fees) was $28,489.20. It is a Venetian Red exterior and taupe leather interior and included accessories of: 4 all-weather floor mats, puddle lights, rear bumper cover, rear seat back protector, splash guards, and wheel locks-alloy wheels. To me it seems like a good deal, and I think part of the reason I was able to get a low purchase price is because the particular dealership I bought from was kind of set back in an area of town where people would never know the dealership even existed--so they probably don't get a whole lot of business. On the plus side, it was only 30 miles from where I live. Good luck!
Congratulations!!!! Great deal.

I want to buy an Outback like yours but I am still trying to find a great deal.

Default 2012 2.5X6MT Base with options.

Just purchased my 2012 Outback last week (Dec 3). Its the 2.5X Base with a manual tran, 17inch Alloy wheel package with fog lights and colored mirrors, and the all weather package. Also came with the cargo mat and wheel locks.

MSRP: $25,416 Paid $21,500.

I'm wondering if i'm one of the few people who actually like the Bronze color or are there others??? Im loving the sound of the Outbacks boxer engine with the manual trany. My previous car was the 2009 Forester 2.5X Manual. I thought the outback would be pretty much the same thing but I was wrong, its a whole different animal.

Congratulations! Very nice car at a very good price.

Could somebody please tell me how much should I pay (before TTL) for a 2013 2.5i Premium with moonroof? You know, an approximate price.

Thanks!!!!

go to edmunds.com and look for the outback, choose your models, any options you want, and then it will show you the invoice, sticker, and TMV(True Market Value) price, you should be at that number or below.

Anyone have any luck with truecar? Before I found my 2012 I was looking at 2013 models and using that as a guide. Didn't actually get into negotiations with any dealers on the 2013s but one dealer actually quoted me right around the truecar "Great" price range on a Base 2013 2.5X6MT.

You live and learn, i paid to much for the last several cars I bought. I thought I had a good deal on my 2009 forester ($1500 off MSRP). I was wrong. I guess budget restraints really had me digging for the best deal I could find this time. This forum was a huge help.

Yep, $1500 off MSRP is about what I got. That's okay. I plan on getting my money's worth. I would be pissed if it was an American car since those can't seem to go 100k miles without major repairs.

Default 2012 Demo/Loaner car

I'm having a hard time getting any dealers in the NorthWest to budge on a price. I did get a dealership offering me a 2012 Limited w/ Sunroof and all weather packaging for 27,359 before TTL (geez taxes are high in WA). It is "used" since it was a demo/loaner car but has 36k mile new car warranty and 60k mile powertrain and only has 8k miles on it. Is this a good deal or should I keep pushing lower?

As for 2013 Limited, dealers aren't going much lower than around 29k before TTL.

Thoughts, tips?

2013 2.5i Limited with Special appearance package pzev

Included were puddle lights, body side molding, splash guards, back seat rubber protectors, all weather mats wheel locks and of course they say interior and exterior paint protection.. but who know I never trust that.

I paid 31,550 plus TTL

It seemed fair enough to me.

I think sticker for mine was 35,100

However I would've felt like I got a great deal at 31k.
