I remember your experience RJM, and keep checking the inventory at Serramonte online. Did you find that, at least in California, all 4 cylinders are PZEV and all Premiums have the All Weather Package? All I really want is the tinted windows. Living here we need them. After market films have not held up well. Dog snot and fishing rods do them in.

Only way is be sure is to have an insider at a dealership risk his/her job to tell you. And most salesmen rarely know the true final invoice price after all the "trunk money" that manufacturers give for hitting sales tiers, marketing support and whatever the trick of the month by each manufacturer is to get the dealers to move units.

So the next best source is to scan this board and others such as edmunds forums to see what other buyers post and then sort through the posts that neglect key details (like mentioning trade-ins or itemizing the OTD pricing). Then you have to have the confidence to walk away (nicely) when you know a dealer is holding out on giving you the incentives that you know apply. It's a dog-eat-dog world and most buyers are wearin' Milk-Bone underwear. ;-)

I purchased a Graphite Grey 2013 2.5i Premium Automatic All Weather Package (heated seats, heated side mirrors, heated wipers) with Popular Package 1b (Includes: Splash Guards And Floor Mats, All Weather, Set of 4 And Rear Bumper Cover And Auto-Dimming Mirror-Compass w/ Homelink, wheel locks) with 26 miles on it yesterday at Heuberger Motors in Colorado Springs and paid $24,950 before TT&L. I think the MSRP was $27,932.

I had same impression when I was looking for my last OB, as soon as I bought it I found couple "pure" premiums on Capitol, Stevens Creek and Putnam Subaru (1-2 car from all imventory)

Correct, all California 4 cylinders are PZEV, to my knowledge. All the Limited's have the all weather package, it's an option on the Premimum's.

I bought mine right at the end of December and their inventory was large. We wanted a Ice Silver Limited and there were three to choose from. We opted for the one with the lower price, as the Limited pretty much had everything we wanted.

Rod Farzad was a pleasure to deal with. I rode the train down to Emeryville, bus shuttle from the train station to the SF BART at Embarcadero, BART to Daly City, Rod picked me up at the BART station. I was headed back across the bridge before lunchtime.

My total savings after taxes and travel costs was close to 2900.

Went last night and was hoping to close a deal on a 2.5 Premium,AWP,Pop #3.

They were willing to take my trade in and pay it off after some negotiating and then take off $2k off MSRP of the new car.

MSRP $28,379

My Price: $26379

Decent deal considering my trade was a bit negative, but wanted to think about it before I pulled the trigger.

I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on a '13 with EyeSight, even managed to find one without Popular Package 2.

Sticker: $37K
Asking: ~$33K
TTL: ~$2K

I'm figuring that for the dead of winter in the mid-atlantic, 10% off sticker is probably about as good as it's going get. Anyone know of lurking negotiation space?

Many thanks to everyone on here for posting - found this research invaluable to my recent car hunt. Just brought home the new outback yesterday. To help repay the favor:

2013 Outback 2.5i Limited pzev
Graphite Grey/Off Black
Option 20 (Nav/Moonroof/Eyesight)
Popular Package 2 (All Weather Floor Mats, Rear Bumper Cover,Splash Guards, Rear Seat Back Protector, Wheel Arch Moldings).

MSRP: $349734
Invoice: $32202
Price Paid: $30500+TTL

First car in over a decade - research and quotes through the internet certainly has made this process easier!
