In response to your question, certain features can be used while the vehicle is in motion, but not all. Yes, you can voice dial a telephone number, but not an extension when connected. Yes, you can voice command a navigation direction while driving, but only if the system understands you. For example, try getting it to understando a street named Pio Nino. We still need all features working while the vehicle is in motion, like so many other automobiles with navigation do. SOMEONE PLEASE FIND THE FIX NOW THAT THE WIRING DIAGRAMS ARE ON THIS SITE!

hmorse - with regards to voice commands, not only most NAV systems are unable to understand the street names but above all, all people that have a foreign accent have problem with voice commands ( I am one of them...).
Lexus/Toyota is currently addressing specifically this problem in this country - and, especially in California, where oriental and latino customers are totally left out of the voice command usage.... most manufacturers did not realize this problem early on... the technology is there but not in automotive applications!

I have been reading this forum for a few months. Everyone is very friendly and informative. I really never thought about ever adding my insight to any of the boards......but this really gets me every time.

Oriental is a type of rug. It's called Asian.

/getting off soap box
//back to finding me some more info on bike racks.

Default Voice commands are useless

I'll echo the posting that the voice commands aren't good. In fact, they are a lot worse than not good, on my 2013, they are useless. I have given up on even trying to use them. They are - and this is saying a lot, even worse than the navigation system. As an aside, I am from the Northern VA area, where we don't have strong local accents.

If you are seeking a car with voice commands, take a lot of time to carefully check out the effectiveness of the system before you buy the car.

I dunno. I find telling it "USB" or "satellite radio" or "channel twenty three" to work great!

Trying to get it to dial by name from the phone book sucks. But dialing by number is very accurate.

Ha! I didn't even know I could ask her that. I just use the voice commands for Bluetooth calling.

There's a huge section in the book that has all the possible commands.

Or you can say "help" and it will guide you through the commands. Basic nav commands work, but that seems to have a different system.

"navigation" "destination", "favorites" "line 1" works while in motion. That's helpful.

Any further news for the 2013 navi hack? I think the wiring diagrams have been posted since your last attempt.

Thanks!
