But when I started noticing the OB's a few years before I bought one in 2002, I wanted nothing else. And that said it was a huge upgrade from my Tercel. Even then, reviews complained about its lack of power/speed. To me, after driving a dying Tercel for a couple years, even the 4Cyl OB was like a rocketship. lol

Ive since convinced 3 people to buy Subaru who claim they NEVER would have otherwise. I wish that translated into a discount on my soon to be new OB.

This time around though, I am noticing how great it will be for a child or 2.
I suggest you buy your new OB through Costco Car Buying program; you have Costco almost on each and every corner there. I had to drive over 200 miles to Birmingham to buy one through Costco no hassle car buying program! I am a great fan of Costco and Trader Joe, as you might have noticed (or not...)

I saw a long (good) post about a Costco experience and it may have been yours. Based on that and what else Ive read, I will be looking at the Costco program for sure - I have had trouble building the car through their site though, no matter what browser I use - the page where you pick the options always freezes up on me after I select a couple options. I also know it refers me to the Glendale Subaru Dealership and I ALREADY had a bad experience there just going to get new brochures (the hard copy ones) a few weeks back. I dont want to buy from them, nevermind that they dont have the car I want.
All of the closest dealers to me dont have the car I want. Im not ready to buy quite yet- but I am wondering if I can put in a different zip code and buy from a different dealer through the Costco program. I bought my last through Irvine Subaru (a very large family owned dealer) because I hated all the nearby Subaru dealers in 2002 - mostly combo dealers with people that didnt seem to know Subaru much.

Anyway - I will look into the Costco thing more when Im ready to buy - to get a price at least - but so far their site doesnt let me pick the options and the dealers near me that it defaults to, dont even have the car I want.
For the record - I want the Special Appearance Package in Brown or Black - I had to drive quite a ways last weekend just to see them in person at all and I STILL couldnt go to one dealer to see both colors in that package. Some dealers have them "in transit" so maybe when I buy there will be more options.

I wont mind driving to get the car mind you, I already know I dont want to buy from Glendale (even IF they had the car) and I now know I wont buy through Sierra Subaru either (Monrovia). I was very happy so far with the one in Ontario though after going there.

Sorry - this is way off subject.

Back to subject - kinda - I noticed in 2002 and notice talking to two dealers this time around, the dealers dont seem to know much about a lot of the options. Like if they are factory or dealer installed. Trying to talk to sales people about options is like pulling teeth - they just brush over the subject and dont seem to know much about getting them installed - and some dont even know of the options I ask about. This has been my experience every time Ive gone to diff Subaru Dealers looking at cars (many).

Its bothersome to me when I know more about the cars they are selling then they do - esp things like extra options which must make them some extra money no?

Heck, even if my wife sat in the back she would put her feet on the back of the seats like she puts her feet all over the glovebox and dash.
that reminds me, i need to go clean my dash and windshield...

Sequoia225:
I suggest you make a list of items that you want on a car (get a brochure from any dealership). Then find a dealer that participates in Costco no-hassle policy (any dealer), drive there (or contact them via email) and give them that list. They will locate a car for you that you want even if it is from another loaction, State or dealership. They do this all the time as it is quite common that they trade cars between dealerships. The dealer that I went to (in Birmingham) was the closest dealer that participates in Costco buying program. I contacted them via email. They did not have a car with options that I wanted. But, within a week they located 3 cars with options that I wanted in 3 different colors. The car was found at some dealership in TN, then shipped to Atlanta and then on to Birmingham. Within a week, after I completed all required paperwork - all over the internet -I drove there on Saturday. Got there at 8:00 and at 11:00 I drove off the lot with the new 2013 OB. That included a trade in that I came there with. Truly a no hassle policy and nobody tried to negotiate the price nor trying to sell me anything additional.
Any dealer can locate a car that you want even if they don't have it on their lot! I would also give them some small (refundable) deposit so that they know, that you are serious.

I don't really have an issue with the backs of the front seats. I really do enjoy the fronts of the front seats, though. Short of a certain German SUV that has a G and a K in the name, these seats were the most comfy on any car we tested, and we drove a lot of cars before buying. (My sister-in-law works for that German company, so we were obligated to test their vehicles before buying). And we like the Saddle Brown leather (or faux leather)...

I always liked seats in Volvos and Saabs (very close to those that Recaro makes) ..but there are equivalents in airplane seats. If you fly Lufthansa or KLM (Airbus) the airplane seats are firm, yet comfortable. If you fly AA, UA, DL (Boeings) the seats are "mushy" and very uncomfortable on long flights! 2013 OB seats are just right, in my opinion.

Thanks! If its really that easy to get any car from most dealers, then that makes it easier.
Ive already made the list, but I have to be patient and save more for my down payment. My car will determine how long I am allowed to do that, but Im hoping it will last me another month or so. Whatever comes first - my car needing more money or reaching my down payment goal - thats when Illl buy and Ill definitely look at the Costco program!

Test driving and making my list of the options I want though has REALLY made me impatient.
But I will wait. In the meantime I am really torn between Black and Brown for the SAP so at least I have some time to sort out that dilemma.
