I was driving home last night on a two lane highway. The speed limit is 55 mph. Folks tend to drive between 65 - 70 mph in the left lane. Since I was driving other folks' kids home in a carpool I stayed in the right lane doing ~60, along with the rest of the sane people. This idiot in an SUV pulls up to my bumper and starts flashing his high beams while I am in the right lane. Evidently the guy in the left (passing) lane was only going 65 and the SUV wanted to go faster and thought I was the easier of the two to intimidate. Tapped the brakes to say - tough crap dude. OR what I often see around the Baltimore/Washington area, people don't realize the left lane is for passing and often pass on the right, even if the left lane on a three lane road is empty.

...okay...there are some good drivers out there...don't want to leave out the minorities...that would be politically incorrect...lol.

Isn't it funny how we all think we are the best drivers on the planet and everyone else is the @sshole behind the wheel. All I need is my wife to tell me that isn't true...lmao...

There are only two speeds. Anybody driving slower than me is an idiot and anyone driving faster than me is a maniac.

You should never be in the left lanes except to pass. If the big rig was forced to pass you on the right, you were driving too slow and should have been in the far right lane.

disagree. LeftMOST lane, yes. But not ALL the lanes.

(Also, to reiterate - I was going the same speed as the car in front of me)

Lane discipline in every state's "Rules of the Road" basically reads the same. Nevertheless, regional / local habits develop, which is the reason for much of the huffing about other drivers. "Oh, those Indiana drivers are $%$#ing nuts!" We just had local utility crews return from helping out with the damage from Sandy on the East Coast, and they were full of stories about New Jersey drivers....made the front page of the local paper (Champaign-Urbana News-Gazette). Does this mean anything? Nope.

As far as European drivers are concerned, we just spent three weeks in Italy, and some of that in Napoli, specifically. I challenge anyone to drive for a day in Napoli and tell me that European drivers are somehow superior to anything...unless the driving in Grand Theft Auto is the standard.

I have to agree with the trucker on this one. I don't think you can blame this on EyeSight or the driver in front of you. Just because the car in front of you was not following the rules of the road is no justification for you not to follow them. Good thing he wasn't robbing a bank. If you moved over to let him pass his issue would have been with the car that was in front of you, not you. Remember if the highway you were on had a no trucks in left lane rule (every 3 lane highway I use does) your actions are a little worse. You forced him to illegally pass you on the right or of course just stay behind you.
I remember an older video that showed the overall effect of someone riding the middle lane. The car was in the middle lane and you see could trucks were swerving to the right lane to pass and cars were swerving to the left lane to pass. I am sure this person in the middle completly justified his actions with thoughts like, the middle lane is safer, I am doing over the speed limit, they can go around me on either side, I haven't had an accident in over 20 years (he doesn't even realize how many he has caused).

Edit: Just checked and your state does have a no trucks in left lane law plus: Section 4B. Upon all ways the driver of a vehicle shall drive in the lane nearest the right side of the way when such lane is available for travel, except when overtaking another vehicle or when preparing for a left turn. When the right lane has been constructed or designated for purposes other than ordinary travel, a driver shall drive his vehicle in the lane adjacent to the right lane except when overtaking another vehicle or when preparing for a left or right turn; provided, however, that a driver may drive his vehicle in such right lane if signs have been erected by the department of highways permitting the use of such lane. Section 4C. On any highway with more than one passing lane in the same direction, heavy commercial vehicles, except buses, shall be restricted in ordinary operation to the right-hand travel lane, and in overtaking and passing shall be restricted to the next adjacent passing or travel lane, and shall not use any other lanes except in an emergency.

I just re-read this part. The truck came up behind you flashed his lights asking you to let him pass. Instead you be a dick and slow down further. I guess you are lucky he didn't have anything to throw out the window as he passed.
