I dreamed of owning a Subaru ever since I saw the first models come out when I was in grade school. Bought my first legacy wagon gl in 1987, followed by a 2000 Outback in 2000. Just upgraded to a 2013 3.6 limited Outback. Can't find enough excuses to be out driving it. My wife pointed out that I will be over 60 for the next upgrade.. Wonder what will be out there in 2025...

Im glad to see a post like this as well. Our 2013 2.5i Premium is the perfect kid hauling, go everywhere thingamajigger (Channeling Dr. Seuss). I echo another post on this thread that the only issue is that its the car my Wife gets to drive during the week. I get stuck driving our 1997 Nissan Alima with 155K miles and a leaky windshield and popping half shafts and skeaky brakes and a hole in the catalytic converter...

My OB is my first Subaru and it goes against my clean freak, perfectionist OCD. I am now leaving it (somewhat) dirty and I feel good about it. Who would have thought a Subaru is good psychological therapy?

First Subie and therefore first OB, and I LOVE IT! I'm not afraid to admit that I prefer 2 door coupes and smaller, speed-oriented cars, but I really have fallen in love with the new OB. Is it fast? No. Is it comfy? Oh God yes it is. Probably one of the best family and gear hauler/commuter car combo money can buy, and it's got AWD and great MPG.
upflying: I too am rowing in the same boat as you, and am loving it. almost to 1000 miles, only 299,000 to go.....

This is my second Subaru - first was a 2007 WRX which will remain forever my single largest car-selling regret, was just a perfect machine albeit not nearly as comfortable or practical as the OB. The combination of driving dynamics, ergonomics, cheap maintenance, and cheap operation convinced me. I made the mistake of then purchasing a 2011 Golf TDI as I wanted something a little "nicer" on the inside with good fuel economy. Both of those criteria were met (50mpg was a breeze in that car), and it was an absolute blast to drive, but it stayed in my garage only 365 days until being traded in for another Subaru after some large issues with it! Fast forward 10 months and 21,000 miles later, and I couldn't be happier with the Outback. Sure my Golf's interior utilized much better materials, and both it and the WRX handled better and were frankly must faster, but I bought the OB with the intent of getting a smooth, quiet, comfortable, practical cruiser capable of hauling people, dogs, and general "stuff" and I could not be any happier. Find me a more capable car of doing everything the Outback can do which can still churn out 30mpg all the while only costing $25,000 (not to mention stupid cheap maintenance) and I'll convert. Until then, I'm going to keep enjoying the h*ll out of this thing |

My (wife's) OB is freakin Awesome!
It's Subaru number 4 for me and I'm on the lookout for #5 to replace my inherited Hyundai DD. My OB handles like a full size wagon with 8 1/2" of ground clearance and has all the options I expect from an AWD sub $30k car. My wife consistently comments how much she likes it and how much better it drives than her Hyundai, especially on days I get the OB and she has to drive the Hyundai. I've put 200k+ miles on my 4 Subarus with never a problem. The only bad thing I see happening with Subaru is that they don't offer a Sunroof with a MT in the XV. And my next car will be a MT, preferably with a sunroof. Hopefully they wise up soon, although it def looks like my next on will be used regardless. |

"Lovin' all the love" here and had to share today's latest "little thing"...
Had a road trip today for work of 4+ hours and took a pit stop at a Rest Area in the mountains... The on-ramp was fairly tight with a fairly deep drop and right curve to merge into I-24 to Nashville... I haven't done this in years, but I actually accelerated and steered into the curve while merging at around 60MPH just to see how the car would track and it hugged the right edge of the concrete on-ramp without drama. Then I gently let the car drift out from the right edge into the center of the lane to avoid losing too much speed on the turn (a la the Stig on Top Gear). Both moves were precise and nowhere near the cars limits. And got 30.3 MPG on the trip computer over 230 miles putting it on 73 on cruise (about 80% interstate with some stop and go, no other passengers or gear this round except for a suitcase and laptop).

My 2010 OB is nice so far we haven't really done anything with it that makes it more awesome than my old Subaru. Which was awesome! Exceptionally well handling car that wasn't powered by a high powered engine - the car still could do 4wheel drifts on highway 1 switch backs - and leave just about every 4dr sedan in the dust regarding handling except the BMW 3 series could hustle and match it regarding cornering ability etc.
But the BMW 3 series couldn't tow 2000lbs nor could it exit the ski resort parking lot after the crowds left and 2ft of snow had filled the parking lot. LOL The 2010 OB is a great family hauler that doesn't stop for nothing and is stupid cheap even in limited trim. Can't really argue with that. But Subaru PLEASE offer a LEGACY WAGON LIMITED AGAIN!!!!!!!!!! Im Dying for a really nice handling wagon that will hustle the canyon like a sports sedan. |

Then again, be **** certain you're ready to want to trade. The improvement is really that good, IMHO. |
