My son, combined with the weight of his carseat, has reached the max of 60 pounds for the LATCH system. So I'm going to install it today with the lap/shoulder belt.
Do I still use the top tether with the lap/shoulder belt install?

You will have to check the seat manufacturers manual for that answer....in my case we have an Eddie Bauer car seat that once my daughter moved out of the harness mode and into seatbelt mode, just acts as a booster seat and sits on the seat. No latch or tether.
