Just looking for confirmation: when the roof rails are in the open position, is there not a cover for the exposed hole for the rear bar that can be adjusted forward or backward?
I'm just concerned that something will get lodged in there, if it's not supposed to.

Found your post, thanks jogosub (reference post: http://www.subaruoutback.org/forums/...-post1759.html). Where did you source the rubber plugs, just a hardware store?

First I measured the hole with a caliper and then I Googled "rubber plugs" and found a source ... I am in Colorado (not at home now) so I don't have access to my receipts...they (plugs) kept flying off because the hole is not really round so I put 2 drops of rubber glue to hold them in place. Plugs can be removed and glue can be scraped off, if I ever use those holes again...
