I upgraded my '13 OB horns to a pair of HI/LOW PIAA 85112; they sound great, much louder and deeper than the stock equipment.
And yes the louder the better (within reason of course). The horns have served their purpose when someone is turning into me, did not see me, which tends to happen a lot here in the New Orleans area. Can the stock horns perform the same function...of course, but the PIAA seem to project a louder stronger sound that quickly gets the attention. I never lay on the horn when someone cuts me off because it serves no purpose [IMO]; the wife does, and more often than not she gets the middle finger, and it just enfuriates her further more. Quote:

My wife is occasionally a 'ride the horn' person, too, and she usually gets the same results as yours. I keep my mouth shut most of the time (b/c happy wife.....), but I've never seen the point of it. My horn is generally used for quick bursts.

The FIAMMs have two blades on the back of them, but come with a short grounding wire that you use to connect one of them to the bracket that holds the horn in place. ![]()

I replaced the stock horns on my '13 OB with Fiamms a couple months ago, and it was as easy as everyone said. The only "problem" I had was the connectors. Although the stock connectors fit the Fiamms, it didn't seem like a very tight connection. On the stock horns, the connectors distinctly snapped into place, but not on the Fiamms. I am watching them closely to see if the connectors vibrate off at some point.

Try a tube of ... Somebody on here recommended it for the connections on my Supertones that kept coming apart. I put enough on the connection w/ the FIAMM that I think it'll hold it just fine.

I'd like to have my horn somewhat louder both for honking and for making the "alarm system" with shock sensor a more forboding - but not looking for a Hella at 116db. I want to be able to give a quick beep to a pedestrian or cyclist without shocking them into an inappropriate reaction. I know what it feels like to be on that side of things.
Anyone have a good horn upgrade to recommend that might suit me? Thanks, Jeff |

I think I'd use one that sounds like an 18 wheeler for the highway, and put the stock on a separate switch just to say Hi or warn a pedestrian. I need to find a good one that runs on electric and not air.
