Default Third TSB Performed and the result is...

THE SAME as the first version of second TSB. They installed the full kit of the second or third version of the second TSB. The shake is now very subtle but it is still there. I drove it for 400 miles, and tomorrow 400 more. If the shake worsen I will contact SOA for buyback. I hope they will be corporating with me ...

Just happened upon this thread and I sure feel for you guys.... I can't imagine the NIGHTMARE of spending weeks if not (in my case) months researching cars...you finally settle on exactly what you want...go thru the excitment of getting it...and then....it SUCKS. Not to mention jumping thru all the hoops of then trying to get your brand new car, RIGHT!
It sure is making me a bit gun-shy as I'm getting very close to finally pulling the trigger on a 2012 Limited, because most of the "shakers" didn't become evident until there was a fair amount of miles on them, correct?
I guess it varies from state to state, but generally, at what point can you envoke the Lemon Law?

I hung around this site for a long time reading all about peoples problems with shakers. I told everyone they were crazy to even consider buying an OB as they would be playing Russian roulette. As time went on it appeared that the vibration seemed to be under control. This was sometime in mid 2011. Build dates somewhere in the middle of 2011 appeared to be safe purchases. I still wouldnt buy!!! Finally the 2012's came out. I bought a 2012 3.6 limited with a 9/11 build date and took my chances.Well after 5000 miles the car is smooth and shake free. I think SAR ,that you are safe to buy one now.It might have other problems but it wont be shaking

...h3ll...if it is there at all I would be going for the buy back...or use your lemon law. If they can't fix it then it warrants doing one or the other...don't settle for second best!

Thumbs up

Hopefully that is the final fix for you!! Keep an eye on the tire pressure also.
I noticed a huge improvement when I made sure that the pressure is totally even on both sides of each axle.

I put 400 miles on the way back from the So-Cal, and 100 miles more last week. Again, the shake is more subtle but showing the same symptoms as the first two TSBs.
On certain road, the shake is obvious. I know it is not normal road feel since with my other car while I could feel the road, but the steering wheel doesn't move side-to-side like my Outback's does.

I wrote an e-mail to SOA yesterday, telling them the situation and asked them what they are planning to do next. I will give them a week to respond. After that I will write them again to warn them legal action is coming unless they do something about it.

I have two early 2010's both are shake free but at 27,000 miles one of the crummy Continentals has started to take more of an egg shape than the proper round tire shape it should have. Can't wait to get rid of these crap tires. They don't hold balance very well have had them balanced by the same respected shop three times in 27,000 miles and they have been very surprised that all three times the tires balance had changed and one tire needed some pretty impressive weight this time to get it back in a balanced state. Even with all of those tire issues it wasn't till I put the egg on the front end that I had obvious vibration in the steering wheel. We moved the tire back to the rear and you can't spot it till your doing about 85mph and its not in the steering wheel but your seat. It wouldn't surprise me that the issue is a combo of something with certain cars and the super lousy Continental tires which clearly do not hold balance for long and also seem to go egg shape after a few miles.

I'm narrowing down my list of tires of interest and suspect my trip to Socal on I5 this weekend is going to speed up my tire replacement effort. LOL

They replaced all 4 Continentals with Michelin before the third TSB, seems to help, but it came back. On the third TSB they re-balanced and re-aligned, but they didn't do RFB.
I wish they considered everything when dealing with repeat known issues. The service manager even told me that they "don't know anything" because they didn't diagnosed the problem. He said they just did what SOA told them to do (with a little "we don't give a sh*t" attitude). I can't believe that answer..., c'mon you are a professional and not a robot, are you? Not to mention my steering wheel is now off-center.

Just glad that both my 2010's are smooth when the tires are clearly correct and in CA with lots of high speed travel so I know for sure we don't have the shakes except when the tires go to crap! HA HA

The two sets of Michelin tires I've owned both cases I went through several tires at the tire shop before we found a set that were all round. Thats one brand I'm not shelling out top dollar for. Bridgestone has been good to me and BFG has been very good over the years so fingers crossed I find some tires that do the job from either of those makers.

I had a tire rotation and now the shakes have started for me. About 12400 miles now. Took it in for tire balance (all good) and alignment. It was out of alignment. That will not fix the issue though.Subtle, if you let go of the wheel it surely oscillates. I waited thinking mine would be OK. Wrong. Still love the vehicle. I am not going to go through the hassle of TSB's, I don't want to have the car all tore up either. I thought I was in the clear, OH WELL. We are keeping it for now. Disappointing though.
