Keep looking....they are harder to find, but nothing can replace rowing your own gears. You're not *too* far from Northern New England, and there are *tons* of Subarus out here, and more MTs in general than I've seen anywhere else. It might be worth looking in Vermont/NH/Maine.

Thanks. That's a primary reason why I bought mine. I lost the SUV in my divorce; it was totally worth it.

+1 on the keep looking. I got mine about 3 weeks ago, had been looking for 3 weeks, and only found 5 or 6 between CA, OR, WA and NV, then drove all over to find the one I bought.

Okay... This car is 150+ miles from me... it looks clean in these pictures, but what do you think aobut the rack and pinion being replaced at under 30K, and why on earth has it been at the dealer since June? 2008 Subaru Outback 2.5 i, $14,775 - Cars.com

Hmm, I wouldn't say that's a bad price, but I think you can do better. Just to give you and idea, this is the one I bought right (I think) in your area from a guy on this web forum.
FS: 2006 Outback 2.5i Limited 5spd MT (Westchester, NY) One other thing. This is kind of a bad time of the year to be buying an Outback. They are definitely a seasonal car. |

If that was the XT LTD I'd say jump on it(well, it would be gone already if it was). Mine has 107k on it, but it was maintained extremely well and I got a good price on it. The price on that one does seem a bit high. If you have the time to keep looking I would. Also, try and drive the XT, but be warned you won't want the 2.5i once you do.

I have had my share of rockets. I used to drive an Allroad, A4 Sport, a Audi special edition Treser wagon, etc. etc. I am fine with slower and steady right now... though I know I'd love the XT if I tried it... so.... just in case... I won't!
