I just had my tires rotated and developed a "shimmy" in the steering wheel. The tire company checked for alignment and balance and couldn't find a problem, but they did not drive it. That's my next goal...have them drive it. Here's the issue, the steering wheel shimmys NOT up and down but rotates left and right. It's not speed dependent either, but is noticeable at higher speeds like over 60. Any thoughts??
Thanks! |

it's almost certainly just wheel balance. These cars are very sensitive and require a precise balance.
That's harder to get lately, at least in some places. Some machines haven't been calibrated in a long time and a balance job doesn't usually go to the sharpest tech in the shop. Maybe try a race shop or performance tire specialist if the first place you went can't get it on a second attempt. |

rotate the tiers back as before - probably a bubble/tread separation on a tire. Possibly a bad stud or lugnut.

many shop will use a pry bar to take off a stuck wheel. maybe you weel was stuck ans they used a pry bar against a ball joint or tie rod end. they may have damaged it. youre going to have a hard time proving that to them if this is the case because if there is a damagd piece it just probably means that it was about to wear out anyway. . either way it shouldnt be too much money. good luck.
