the light that,s in the shape of a engine on the dash is staying on , i just noticed it on the way home from work , does anyone have any ideas what could be wrong ? , thanks in advance, would appreciate any help.
details on car? If the light is flashing, try not to drive the car. some models have a built-in way to read the codes when the check engine light is on.
otherwise, most parts retailers will scan for codes at no charge, get the codes, post them here.
after a quick check by plugging in a mechanics laptop to my car i found out its one of the 3 sensors that are in the exhaust system, i have cleared the light of the dash so, if it comes on again i will spend a bit more time with the laptop and isolate witch sensor is causing the problem and replace it.
Careful assuming the definition of a code actually points to a bad part. many people have replaced expensive components, to later discover they had a rodent-chewed wire or an exhaust leak or needed new spark plugs ,etc.
