Good thing no one was harmed. Poor car. Hey, its reparable and you now have an idea what the push weight rating is for the car.
Just be careful of the guardrails that may jump out at you. |

So I got a set of UK spec outer tail lights for my Outback. I think they look way better than the US. I plan to eventually do the center tail light section (so that the clear pieces match better because the US reverse is a shade or two darker) and the headlights.

Was that an eBay buy, or is there a particular source you used for those?
I still want my clear turns, if I'm gonna bother to replace my leaky ones.

Found them for 10 pounds each. After shipping it cost me under $100. I want to get the center piece as well as the headlight because I think the clear lenses look way better. Be warned, some buddies of mine that run the inspection station/shop down the street told me that these were illegal because they do not have a DOT marking in the lens. But who is really going to be able to tell a difference, it looks 100% factory.....because it is ![]() I can just argue that the lens says Subaru in it. Also, Jo00di, your image isn't showing up. |

Had some scuffs from poor packaging but these products have ALWAYS cleaned my lights to look brand new! Use with lots of microfiber cloths. -Clean with soap and water. -Stage 1 MeguiarsDirect.com:Mirror Glaze Clear Plastic Cleaner Mirror Glaze Clear Plastic Cleaner It takes some elbow grease, but eventually the coating in the headlights comes off like a sludge. Then its smooth sailing to the polish. -Wipe off excess. Stage 2 MeguiarsDirect.com:Clear Plastic Polish Clear Plastic Polish -Polish/wipe off excess w/ clean rag. |

Well it took more than just today, but I finished today. I used this thread 2001 timing belt, water pump, and valve cover gasket set as a guide for changing my valve cover and plug gaskets (spark plug tube grommets), and my timing belt, water pump and thermostat, idlers, belt tension arm/idler.
I had to wait a couple of days for a new one of the smaller of the two timing belt covers, the one on the driver's side. The bolts were so rusted that when I tried to undo them they sheared off and destroyed the bolt holes in the cover, along with most of the skin on the knuckles of my right hand. lol I was able to get the remaining bolt out fine without screwing up the threads (no pun intended). And I thought my troubles were over when I got the crank pulley bolt to budge. BTW, the seals for the cover cost more than the plastic cover itself. The valve cover gasket job went a lot smoother. I had oil on my spark plugs the last time (actually the only time) I changed them. When I got the valve cover off I was not surprised to find the seal and the spark plug tube grommets were hard and stiff. The engine innards looked great though. No black deposits, sludge, or build-up. I was worried because I inherited the car and if the previous owner had service records, we never found them. I guess she at least had the oil changed fairly regularly. Car runs like a top and purrs like a kitten and I'm grateful I got it all back together properly and can drive it again. Maybe another 100K miles. |

It sat at the shop all day. Then I took it for a drive.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=009wmeU1hws We, the Runt drove the last two runs, made a total of five runs. This one was the fastest. |
