Default How to obtain a remove for keyless entry?

My car didn't come with a remote, but I'd love to be able to use that feature. Any suggestions on how to do this with out going through a dealership? I don't even want to know what this would cost through them. Thanks!

I bought a couple cheap ones on ebay - dont remember exactly but they were around $20. Programming took a few repeats of the process to get working but never having done it before I managed it.

Awesome, thanks for the info. I looked on ebay and a few different styles pop up.

Anyone have a pic of what the remote for a 2000 OBW Limited would look like?

Just the site I would have sent him to. It's chuck full of information as well as how to program them.

I had one already for my 01 Outback, but I purchased one for my Fiance's 03 Baja direct from the dealer for under 50 bucks IIRC. At the time I had no idea how to program them, and they did it for free.

Thanks, I figured that page might be a better source for which one than ebay. Thought I'd double check though.

The 2005 remote (teardrop style) will work as well. Just throwing that out there since I think it's better looking than that other ones. I bought one off eBay when I had my 2004 and it programmed without a problem.

EDIT:

This is what I'm talking about: http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-2005-201...7fc90c&vxp=mtr

I had found one without the trunk release button for mine. There's a possibility that the trunk release would work anyway. On my 2008, I have a button to unlock just the rear hatch.

Come to think of it, I bought one of these for my mom's '01 Limited and it programmed for that too.

I replied in the thread given above as well, but I'm not able to make this work. The horn does not honk. I tried the key at different speeds too.
