Moderator, can we get a sticky for VON holders to report deliveries on their 2016 Models? Of course, once inventory starts to show up on lots in earnest, it can be taken down.
I can't wait to see that a 2016 Legacy or Outback was delivered. That would mean mine probably isn't to far behind. Ordered June 11 with a delivery date by last week in August. Coming from a 1997 Saturn it will be a big upgrade and the first new car I've had in 36 years. Gettin antsy!
It's my second new Outback in two years (not bragging... wife puts on 26K per year and needs 100% absolute reliability and little "down time" and I am adding two new drivers to our home at the end of August -- passing road tests pending -- so we decided to move her '14 into the "Fleet" at 47K miles). Understand that these things are never perfect and there will always be a "what the **** were they thinking" moment.... but my '06 Outback was better than our '98 and our '14 is better than the '06... except for the moon roof. I want my GIGANTIC '06 moon roof back. I am hoping that the '16 is even better than the '14.
Good luck, have fun, and I hope that you get 600,000 miles from this one

An interesting side note. On the morning of March 28, 1979 I hopped in my car to go pick up my new chevy that I ordered. I turned on the radio and the breaking news was all about the Three Mile Island accident. Three Mile Island was about 12 miles up the river from me. My first thought was good I'm headed to Jerry's Chevrolet in Baltimore, the opposite direction. I'll never buy another GM vehicle. That government bailout left a sour taste in my mouth.
Ordered placed 6/4 (first day) with Grand for a 2.5i Premium with scheduled delivery last week of August. Hoping for earlier since I was an early order, but we'll see.
Ordered my 2016 Outback Premium on 6/17/15, Vehicle Order summary says : Estimated vehicle delivery is the last week of August.
If it really is eight weeks as many have said, then I only have six weeks to go... hoping it is here by mid August.
Sorry you feel that way. I'm a supplier for GM (work for one I mean)and I'll never forget how we were putting a plan together to shut our doors forever. Lots of jobs were saved including mine. Just an opinion and I don't mean to disrespect yours.
ordered my 2016 twilight blue/beige interior 3.6r package #23 with pop package #5 on 6/14/15 VON showing delivery last week of august can not wait, trading in my 2009 forester 2.5x premium for it can not wait for the 6cyl
If you've read some of the threads about what a POS the 3.6 is, get ready to be pleasantly surprised! I came out of an 09 2.5 and when I drove my 2015 3.6 for the first time, I was amazed at the power and overall smoothness gain. I think that's why they don't keep 3.6 Outbacks around dealer lots. If they did, they wouldn't sell near as many 2.5's. The problem is, they have to sell a crap load of 2.5s in order to comply with EPA regulations and get the OK to manufacture the 3.6. Whats funny, and you'll find yourself loving this, when driven conservatively, the 3.6 gets better gas millage! It'll take a few thousand miles during break in. But after you get around 5k miles on it, you'll really start to see the millage increase. As of now, I'm averaging 3~5 mpg more than I got in my 09 2.5. And my new 3.6 Outback doesn't feel like it's going into cardiac arrest when full of people and stuff...
Looks like some people may receive the '16 OBs as early as last week of July or first week of August. Anyone here fortunate enough to receive one of the first 2016 OBs?
First Post, first new car, first Outback, first Subaru! Ordered 6/19, was told to expect delivery in the last week of August. My dealer called last week and told me they expect delivery on 8/7 with a small possibility of 8/3! She also gave me my VIN. Now it's getting real.
I'm so jealous. Ordered 6/10, just got VIN today, ETA 8/17.
I checked my dealers site and they've gone up to 16 2016 outbacks coming in, none of which match mine, so not expecting an early delivery
I ordered my 2016 3.6R Carbide Gray on July 18th. I am told that the car has been ordered but it is not on the dealer's site yet.
As a newbie please forgive me for asking what VON is. I am thinking that it is Vehicle Order Number. If I call my dealer should they be able to give me this info?
Yes, VON = Vehicle Order Number. Unless you are in some of the states in the Northeast that have to go thought a distributor, you should be able to get the VON number within the hour of placing the order. Some of the states in the Northeast that go through a distributor will not have a VON since the dealer is not placing the order with Subaru.
I am in Connecticut.
My experience leading up to placing my order was great. Ever since I placed the order things have fallen off. I will email my sales person and ask for the VON but given what you said and where I am, I will not hold out much hope.
At the service center today. Service manager said that the 2016s are being held back because of the slow manufacture of the new head units with the updated Starlink system. Not a big backup, but is going to hold production back 1~2 weeks. Regular builds get the priority while customer orders get put on the back burner. Sorry for the bad news...
Of course this is a service manager repeating something he herd. Who knows...
Nice to be here, among Subaru lovers.
I've ordered my very first Scooby in July 11. Still no update on my VON, but I'm guessing it'll be here by end of August or mid September.
My 2016 Outback Limited is on its way -- that is, it's due for arrival at the Rhode Island distribution port on this Monday. From there it will find its way to my dealership in another 10 to 14 days, I've just been told.
