I'm looking for a soft silicon pull-on fob cover for the remote that comes with the keyless ignition fob......does anyone have any links to an appropriate cover?
I don't want to get a leather sewn one, too bulky and harder to carry the fob in my pocket.....but I do want to add some protection against dropping the fob.
Thanks for the info about thejacketstore.com. I checked the website and found that they had a silicon cover for the 2015 OB fob. The price was reasonable at $7.99 each and shipping was free. Needless to say, I just ordered two. Frankly, I do not think there is any difference between the 2015 and the 2016 fobs. Thanks again for the info.
This may be apples to oranges, but I had a phone cover that had the soft silicone bumpers on the outside of it's case. The soft silicone always gripped the pocket's material and turned my pocket inside out as I pulled the phone out of my pocket. The soft silicone you're talking about may be different, but it may be something to keep in mind.
Just got 2 of these. They arrived from China in 1 week. They are not bulky at all and have a nice ring and belt loop hook attached. The quality is good but they are bit pricey.
Please do let us know! I've no interest in those leather covers. The silicone covers looks perfect to reduce scratching and might let me put it in the same pocket as my phone. I just want to hear from someone who has one before pulling the trigger.
The questions I have:
Do they fit well?
Can you use all the buttons easily once installed?
How much bulk do they add to the fob?
I also just ordered the same model for my 2015 OB and I'm sure that the '16 uses the same fob.
Not too concerned about turing my pocket inside out because, material aside, I rarely ever take my remote out of my pocket. A little grippiness might actually help the fob stay where I placed it!
I'll add a report as soon as it shows up! Thank God for the OB Forums website! I used to be on the Forester Forums site all the time (still read it every night!) and it's so good to see that this site is filled with so many nice and knowledgable folks!
Thanks for that info. I bought one of the leather ones but it is bulky in the pocket and you don't have easy button access (which I rarely use anyway). I think I might try one of these...
Mine came today, and I'm pleased with it. Very thin, adds little appreciable weight or bulk. Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks to Steve16OB for directing me to thejacketstore.com.
I also wish to thank Steve160B for the jacketstore website. I just received mine today and it fits perfectly although it was somewhat of a challenge to get it onto the fob. I was afraid I was going to tear it but slowly and most assuredly, I was able to slide the cover over the fob. I like it a lot more than the leather fob cover that I had previously. Instead of a fob with a bulky leather cover, I now have a fob with a slim yet protective silicone cover. Moreover, the price for the silicone cover was only $7.99 compared to the $29.95 for the leather fob cover from EBay. Live and learn as they say.
Thanks guys. How come you can take a photo so much better than the outfit that's actually selling the fob covers? I hope you get a free fob cover of your choice for the effort. Ordering mine now.
Btw, I'll use a lubricant to help with installation.
Agree...I was a little concerned I might tear it as I pulled it over the fob. In retrospect I think I could have coated the inside with a very slight amount of Armor All to make it a little easier.

I was seriously thinking of getting the expensive leather ones on eBay but luckily didn't. I wish I knew about the jacketstore earlier so that I could have the fob covers ready when I pick up my car on Monday! Will have to be super-careful not to scratch or drop the key fobs until I receive these in the mail (I ordered 2 black ones).
I have only had them for two days so time will tell. But there was no rubbery smell upon taking them out of the cellophane envelope that it came in. I have had it in my pants pocket and have left it on my nightstand for two days. Thus far, there is not a bit of lint on it. We shall see if it continues to "repel" lint in the weeks and months ahead.
What others have said. I got mine. It required a bit of patience to get on but once it's on... who cares. Only $7.99 a lot cheaper than most of the leather options (I know I have one).
At least keep it from getting scratched up and a lot less bulky than the leather case I was using before, and you have direct access to the buttons.
Time will tell. I may go back to the leather enclosure but I'm thinking this will be enough.
I went to the site jacketstore.com and ordered a pink one for my wife, LOL! If it's a nice fit, I might get one for mine. That way when the leather cover wears out, I'll have a backup. I just like the leather one I have. It makes the fob look more fancyer then them thar othern's...
Well I've had it in my pocket for a couple of days.
Don't notice a sticky issue in the pocket (at least with jeans or cargo type pants/shorts).
It can collect dust a bit though.
I suspect if you carry Kleenex in your pocket (I don't generally) it might attract fragments.
The other issue I've had with my big fat leather case I have is one is that when you take the car somewhere and have to give them the "key", they don't generally like that and it's kind of a pain to unhook from the leather case.
The reality is the fob pretty much sits in my pocket anyway/hardly ever take it out, so what it looks like isn't that important to me since no one (including myself) is seeing it anyway. About the only time I see it is when I take it out of my pocket and throw it in the cubby with the other keys when I get home.
Just got my two fob covers and popped them on, they're GREAT, just what I wanted for some protection to the fob AND my iPhone since they tend to reside in the same pants pocket.
A VERY tight fit that requires some patience as you pull, work and push the cover on but, once done, it's really like it's right from the factory, the fit is THAT good.........
My thanks, again, to Steve for posting that link to the vendor site!
As in my prior post the lint came off easily, all I did is add some Dawn with warm water on a sponge and just wipe it down. I wear a lot of jeans and lint is impossible to avoid.
