Every type car has issues . Several of the listed were Dealer caused. They get more $ they more they do . I been there in last 30 years .

The funny thing some of the issues complained about. Like head gaskets and the like .
Just the facts

I have done these repair to almost every Subaru I touched (I buy resell)
Possible repairs (the norm) at 150000 ish miles head gaskets and the (possible $1000+ dealer bill) Even the a 105000 miles maintenance can be $1000+ . So thats say $2000 dollars on a 7 or 10 year old car . The last 3 had Bad trans bellow 200000 MIles . 140000 Miles Impreza 143000 outback (dealer serviced all life.) etc. etc.

Its all open to interpretation.

My personal ride all Have over 125000 miles 2 have 200000 miles . All but 1 have had less than $800 in repairs total over years including Brakes . They r none Subaru.
That make them better NO .

My worst was a ’82 Ford Ranger Pickup. We purchased for our business, and then when the business folded, I ended up with truck. Although I got the car to over 100k miles, getting there was not cheap. I had to replace the power steering three times, transmission twice. But the worst of it was the silver paint, and interior finish. The paint started flaking off after 2 years. It would come off in sheets. Clearly there was no bond to the primer. I asked Ford to step up to the problem and after many arguments with the dealer, national warranty etc- they refused. Luckily I frequented a lunch spot across from the dealership. I would make a point to park the peeling rusting P.O.S out front of their dealership, with a sign in the windshield “Ford Quality - IT SUCKS!” . A few times coming back from lunch the manager of the dealership would meet me at my car and argue with me about how “unfair” that was. I told him there was a simple fix to the problem – repaint my truck!! He even tried to tell me I was legally allowed to park there. – Hey it was a public street pal! But they never did step up to their crap paint job. Later the interior just started falling apart- door panels fell off, the headliner fell down dashboard disintegrated. That thing was a real pile of garbage.fficeffice" />>>

Since I'm a current Subie owner, I'm allowed to say this: My worst car was a 1985 Subaru GL sedan! It. was. just. horrible.

I bought it new. From day 1, it would routinely stall a minute after starting to drive and then fail to restart whenever the temp was below 30. That would leave me stalled in the middle of the road. No one was ever able to fix this. Looking back, I don't know how I put up with this, but I was young....

It hydroplaned at the first sign of a raindrop. New tires didn't help.

Shocks failed repeatedly.

And, worst of all, one day (and the car was only 4 years old at the time) the manual gear shifter "fell through the floor" ... I had to pull upwards on it to shift, which was comical... Cost $1000 to drop the tranny and fix. Argh.

Oh well, Subaru has come a long way. After years of saying I'd never buy another one, I gave in and now I LOVE my 2011 Outback!

1982 Dodge Omni. Started to rust in less than 3 months and I even had it rustproofed! Rust would just pop up in the middle of a panel. Before this car I had over 60k in manual trans cars but for some reason with in 20 k this thing ate two clutches and one trans.

1989 Mazda 323. What a pile of garbage that thing was. Bought it after I wrecked my Jeep Cherokee and after only driving it for 3 months the engine died on me. Back then I didn't have the auto know-how I do today so she was hauled away. Only car i've ever owned that I absolutely hated driving (and yes that includes the Geo I drove for a year and a half at 54MPG... actually loved the money that car saved me).

PS... in fact I sold the Geo for more than I bought it for... a Geo as an investment? Who would've thought!

The worst vehicle I had was a 96 chevy silverado pickup with a 6.5 turbo diesel. Ran fine in the winter but in the summer time it was a crap shoot if it was going to start or not. Purchased the truck new and about 80000 miles the main bearings spun in it. The warranty covered it but the warranty was going to run out a couple of months later so I found a used truck dealer 2 states from me and traded it for a 1998 Cummings dodge and still have it.

Tommy. 1998 dodge diesel,1986 supercharged vette, 2003 Subaru outback, 2011 mopar town& country and 3 other cars my daughters have that I care for.

Default Worst Car: 1976 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am

The worst car I ever owned was a 1976 Trans Am. It was my first car. I bought it with 40,000 miles, and it was only 2 years old when I got it. The car came with a 455 cu. in. engine and a 4 speed manual, but it only put out about 200 HP, less than my 2006 Outback X/T. Still, that didn't stop it from getting about 12 MPG highway.

The AC never worked even after I paid big bucks to get the dealer to fix it. The passenger door handle literally came off in my girl friend's hand one day and she was a very skinny girl. LOL The catalytic converter clogged up on a cross country trip in Georgia, and I was heading to the Florida Keys. (So I took it off and took it to a friend's shop, where we "fixed" it. LOL) I replaced the clutch around 45,000 miles, and then again around 70,000 miles. There were times when it would run hot even in a New Jersey winter, and it would overheat. The sending unit on the gas gage went, so my gage was always stuck on full. (I owned it durring the second gas crisis in 1979, and we had odd/even rationing, so you never knew when you were going to run out of gas.) Finally the tunner on the radio broke so you could only select two stations from the pre-sets, or listen to the 8 Track. LMAO

Needless to say, from that experience, I vowed to never buy a GM product, and 30 some odd years later I have stayed true to my word.
