88 chevy Beretta with 4 cil and five speed. Guttless car that cost more in 6 months of repairs than my two previous cars did in two years.

End of summer 08 I bought a '95 Ford Probe with 210k miles on it (was on it's 2nd engine). Had a cheap "racing" muffler on it that resonated throughout the whole cabin. The shocks were shot. And I found out when I went to replace the thermostat (because it wouldn't heat up) that it didn't have one installed! Paid a cook $1k for it and traded it in 6 months later for $500 + the first monthly payment on a brand new minivan for the wife which came up to almost $950. So $50 + manteneance for a 6 month 'rental' wasn't too terrible... although I did have to drive it for 6 months!

The worst car I've ever owned was easily a 1976 Subaru. I was totally unreliable, and would just quit running at random times. The body rusted out in less than 5 years, CV boots tore, more electrical problems than I can count, it would not run when the temps were below 20 (very common where I live), the upholstery cracked, yes cracked, and the paint peeled off. All in all my experience with that car soured me on Subarus for over 20 years.

I bought this one. Just look at this.

‘It’s a fun-size Audi TT! Only without the fun! In fact it was dreadful to drive – utterly gutless. But the worst thing was you felt such a prat driving it. When I went to drive it, I really did feel like Noddy and Big Ears.

The worst car I ever own was a brand new 1974 Dodge P.U., 3/4 tons, 4-WD, Loaded. In the first 10,000 miles this happen, every time you hit a pothole or a bump the engine would quit, the windshield leak, u-joint went out, door handle fell off, replace Master cylinder, air condition did not work, discover a bolt in the hoses. Transfer case fell down. I fixed it later by drilling holes in the bolts that held it in place and inserting cotter keys behind the nuts so they would not back off.

Technically it's not my car, but it was may parent's car while I was a kid.

'86 Plymouth Colt Vista Wagon.

5th gear never worked. It would keep sliding back into 4th.
Started died every 6 months. Replacing the starter involved draining the radiator and removing a coolant line and a lot of contorting.
The forward hinged hood was a pain.
It had part time 4 wheel drive, but turning it on would blow the fuse that powered the lights and turns signals.

A Range Rover. It was absolutely the worst vehicle ever created.

I don't know if my experience was typical, but I was on a first name basis with every towing company driver within 50 miles.

Electrical issues were constant; the darn thing was wired with the thinnest wire gauge I have ever seen and the wiring completely exposed on the undercarriage. There was not even a sleeve that the wires could have been protected by, just bare wiring fixed with clips to the frame.

The water pump and power steering pumps were apparently designed to last about 6000 miles. At least one of them was constantly in need of repair. I owned a Fiat in the 70's that was more reliable, 'nuf said.

When I bought the Rover, I thought I was buying a great vehicle that would last, and by doing so offset it's price over time.

What a sucker I was...
