Default Lets see your snow throwers

Looking forward to getting some serious snow.
Just finished rebuilding the 45" snow blower for my 1986 Cub Cadet.
Put the chains and wheel weights on, now just waiting....

There isn't a piece on it I didn't take apart and rebuild/sand/reshape/clean/repaint.
Rebuilt both the reduction drive and the front auger drive, silky smooth now.
Even cut the old fins off and welded new steel on the impeller so it will actually THROW snow.
Looks brand new now (basically is).
I love these old lawn tractors, seriously overbuilt, simple, reliable, HEAVY!
Actually im looking for another 100lbs of something I can use as rear weight on it.
That thrower hanging off the front weighs at least 200lbs, good thing the lift is hydro.
Need as much rear traction as I can get.

You can see what it used to look like if you go to my album on photobucket.
There is a plow too but the blower is so much more fun.

Looks very nice, how much time do you have into that? For more rear weight, that hitch 'platform' looks like the perfect candidate for an additional weight 'stack'..

Time into the blower alone....probably 20-25 hours.
Yeah the hitch will definitely hold it, just wish I had some iron from a weight bench lying around. Maybe time to hit up craigslist for that.

Here are the snow tires I just picked up.
Mounted on some 2011 Legacy steelies.
Went with a taller skinnier tire, its a tight fit but works.
Looks pretty awesome too.
Oh yeah waxed it as well.

I never said that, but I don't have a snow blower, I do it the old fashion way, with a shovel, but we probably don't get as much snow as you..

Edit: Added photo of hand shoveled driveway after the big 2010 snow in our area..

It's buried at the back of the shed. I still have a couple billion metric tons of leaves to take care of before that comes out.

My garage opens onto a sidewalk, right on the road- so not much of a driveway. Plastic shovel keeps it clear enough. But I did want to compliment you on the pictures- shine job looks nice!

Just got a 24" Ariens last year...and take one guess at the engine manufacturer. http://robinamerica.com/pspecs.aspx?pid=201

Great snowblower...smooth, powerful engine and the entire machine is well-constructed. Handles our huge snowbanks with no problems. Ariens makes great stuff. Our last one (until two years ago) was an early 1970s Ariens with an 8 HP Tecumseh engine. Don't know what happened to it specifically, but it stalled on me one day and now no longer starts and has no compression whatsoever (pull the rope, let it go, and it'll keep spinning for a good 10 seconds). I haven't managed to part with it yet...heck, I haven't even looked to see what happened.

When I bought it, the guys at the Ariens dealer told me why it had a Subie engine. Apparently Ariens greatly underestimated how many 24" Deluxe models they would sell that year. The first bunch had Briggs 7 HP engines on them, but when they realized they needed to do another production run Briggs couldn't manufacture/deliver engines quickly enough for Ariens to get them shipped out to sell when people really needed them. They investigated other manufacturers and Subaru-Robin said they could do it. Consequently, the 2nd batch of the 2010 Deluxe 24" models all had Subaru engines. Not a bad consequence, in my opinion!
