Default Goodbye My old friend. Hello XC90

Yesterday I said goodbye to my old friend a (98 subaru legacy outback). I traded it in for a 2007 Volvo XC90. The time's I have with my subie were both good when it was attacking snow during winter and bad when i found oil leaks and codes. The coolest thing is even at 244K i did not experience the dreaded head gasket issue. It was a maintained car overall . Some rust spots but all accesorries where working.

Now i welcome my new 07 XC90 as the needed for more room. I got the sport and premium package on silver green on tan interiors with 61K on it. Got it for 33K Canadian. I was looking at the tribeca but it did not have the room and styling of the classy xc90.

Also I'd like to express my deep gratitude to this forum as it's the best around for dealing with subaru and specifically outbacks. I tried to look for something similar for the XC90 so far end up short.

Again Thanks gent's for your advice, tips and comments.

cheers

Sounds like your Outback was pretty reliable, despite your complaints of oil leaks and OBD codes. I wish you the best of luck, but hope you have gone into this doing your research, because Volvo is not exactly a reliability standard these days..

A good friend who has a custom electronics shop told me he would personally kick my ass if I bought a volvo. He said they get one every week with major electrical issues sent to them by the dealer to sort out. He said that biggest issue has been very poor quality electronic harness and switches which lead to blown fuses etc. He said the newer volvos seems to be worse than the year or two old versions but neither are what he would consider good or even of decent quality.

He said MB also brings in cars to his crew he said the quality of the equipment is good but the complexity of the electronic systems tends to create issues for both dealers and 3rd party installations.

A good friend's 2004 Volvo XC90 T6 AWD completely had AWD failure, where the computer shut down the traction control and the power to the rear wheels without any codes or warning lights... It had about 103k on it, and I hope the electronics are better in newer models. It's a beautiful SUV and a wonderfully safe one at that. I'd love to see how it compares in the snow to your OB! Good luck with everything.

Hello guys so far it's been a year and i guess i did my research well and got me the 07 xc90 which fixed all those issues of the past for the XC. It's been flawless after 10K of highway and city driving. I'm thinking of trading in now my 01 honda civic for a 09 or 10 outback. I guess i'll be back if it pushes through , more power guys
