Default 2011 Recalls

Hi,

I bought my outback in the US and received notifications from MySubaru.com about 2 recalls. One for the wiper motor cover and the other for the moonroof glass.
I had a pleasant conversation with the US dealer where i bought the car and they help me to identify what is applicable (both recalls in fact) and what to do. I contacted Subaru USA and they mentioned it is not necessary to come back to the US for manufacturer's recalls (which is not the case if you want the warranty to apply without paying first). Then I called the local dealer in Montreal but they said one of the recall (moonroof) is not ready yet. Subaru Canada were not very cooperative and just said to go back to the US for the moonroof recall as it is not applicable yet in Canada.
Firstable, why canadians have to wait if there is a safety issue?
Then I checked Transport Canada website for recalls and found both of them!!!
Does anyone have an idea if this is true that the moonroof recall is not available?

Thanks

I had the same issue back in 2010 when I got the recalls for CVT hose and ABS contol module.
My Canadian dealer had no infos on the ABS module when I got my appointment.
By the time I had the recalls performed, the info was available for Canadian dealers.
The dealer told me that they always get the infos long after their U.S. counterparts.
The recalls were done at no charge.

Has anyone that own a 2011 Outback bought in Canada received formal notice from SCI about the recalls for the moonroof and wiper motor cover?
I talked to Subaru Canada today and they said I should have gotten the notice for the wiper motor. They also said that they don't know anything about the moonroof one yet.
I bought mine in Oct. 2011 and may have been right at the time the notice was sent out.Subaru Canada said that I don't need the notice and to go to the dealer and get the wiper motor recall done by quoting the recall #.Will try that but wanted to know if the notice has gone out and for how long.

Never got ANY recalls from Subaru Canada.
Since I bought mine in the U.S. All the recalls I got came from Subaru of America and I got them by Emails.
They were also posted on my personnal page of ' My Subaru ' website.

Default CanadavsUS

I have received both recalls by mail from the US and via MySubaru.com. Very efficient service.
I also called the US dealer where I bought my car and never returned there after, and they gave me all the details before I received official notifications. All of that with a friendly approach.

In canada: cold reaction from my dealership. Not because my car is from the US, but as usual with all their customers (confirmed by third parties). Subaru Canada had the same reaction and they said the recall for the moonroof will be issued in a near future (yes Canada is not as important as US and this safety recall can wait).

However if you go to Transport Canada, you will see both recalls. There is also a website in Quebec called "Protegez-vous" (it is like a ConsumerReport) and they just published these recalls.

It seems that Subaru Canada is not on the same planet.... as usual if you look at their prices....

I agree they're not !! That's why I bought the car in Vermont

Dealers usually get recall info much later up here then in the states. Subaru Canada is to blame not the dealers... That being said I get my wiper motor recall done at the dealer in Granby, I always get really good service there.
