    Yes that is exactly what it does, I am going to drain it today, and I will let you know

    what I find.. I talked to my parts guy at the subaru dealer, and he confirmed what I

    had guessed that the reverse in a subaru MT is seperate from everything else, unlike

    every other MT I have ever worked on. He said it is on a seperate shaft, and the

    replacement is only 55.00... So I guess I will just have to take it out, and see..

    Are you saying that it goes into reverse and nothing happens?

    Check the linakge first, but i bet of you drained the tranny oil there would be metal parts in it.

    It would be far cheaper to get a used manual transmission
