2005 outback 2.5 liter 4 speed automatic check engine light stays on solid and cruise control light flashes any ideals? I have not scanned it yet but you guys have always been real helpful and sometimes know more than the scanning tool . the car does have 175,000 miles all maintenance up to date and runs like a champ with the exception of the christmas tree lights .
The cruise light is flashing because it is disabled as a result of the check engine light. Get it scanned and come back with the codes. Than we may be able to help more.
Ours did that for the 1st oxy sensor- I think anything that might impair driveability or damage the cat kicks in the 'cruise disable', so best check what it is sooner rather than later.
thanks. Just wanted a few suggestions. Maybe I will try tightening the gas cap.the last time I reset the lights by disconnecting the battery they stay off for approxmently 175 miles ?
Get a cheap code reader, I've seen them at Harbor Freight for $25. They work fine to tell you what code it's throwing.
It's nice to at least know what the cars is trying to tell you so you can more accurately target the issue rather than guessing. Even if you don't do the work yourself, you can tell if the mechanic is BSing you when you take it in.
