I thought I was getting a rear 12 v outlet but it seems not. The dealer said $55 plus install. Anyone done this and any pointers?
Also, new Outback buyers beware putting standard automotive charger plugs in the socket. The one I have used for several years in the Calais shorted out the Subaru receptacle when trying to seat it. Apparently only short penetration ones work safely. Not sure how you determine that but be careful not to push it in too far!

Thanks for the tip. Can you elaborate on "shorted out the receptacle"? Did you simply blow a fuse or did some physical shorting/damage occur to the receptacle itself or another part of the vehicle and did you have to fix or replace anything? Thx in advance.
