Hi,
I have been eyeing an outback or a liberty for a long time and it is now ripe for the picking I think. :wink2:
What attracted me most to the wagon is firstly the AWD ability. The wife and I do some bushwalking, quite often the trail starts at the end of a fire trail somewhere. Instead of getting a full on 4WD, the car will be perfect in terms of capablity, size for backpacks and camping gear, fuel economy and not being too expensive in case it gets broken into or even worse, stolen.
Secondly, it'll be my daily car for commute to work. I don't drive very far to work, only about 35kms and about once a week or twice the most. I do heaps of running around taxing the kids around, occasional Costco shopping and trips to Supercheap/Autobarn/Burson/Bunnings and the like!
Unfortunately I don't know much about it, just starting to suss things out now. I was looking at carsales.com.au and they are going between $900-$5000, which is in my range.
Questions:
1. What to look for in a 2001-2004 models? I'm looking for a stationwagon.
2. What usually break down and is it expensive to fix?
3. Where to get cheap parts? Online/Japan/Local?
4. What do people try to hide when selling?
5. Is it worthwhile spending extra for the 6cyl 3.0?
Thanks for your help!!
