Default MD/VA/DC Subaru Dealerships - Fitzgerald

Any opinions on Fitzgerald Subaru in MD? How about the other DC area dealerships?

Thanks in advance.

I got a good quote from their internet department for a 2011 but ended up going with Wilkins Subaru in Glen Burnie (Baltimore) because they had the 2012 in the color I wanted with the options I wanted. Make sure you contact the Internet department first to get a good quote.

service, parts, or sales?

these might be out of your way but:

lawrence Subaru just outside Hanover, PA was always really nice to work with for parts. low key and down to earth people.

reisterstown/owings mills area Subaru had more let's say *difficult* people to work with and that affected their operations some, but one of the service manager there was a really nice guy.

Subaru regional rep lives in Carroll County, he said some of the DC area Subaru mechanics were making 6 figures so you might want to avoid them for service!!!! LOL

I guess I would like to know from both a sales and service point of view.

I don't know much about the DC area dealerships, but if you don't mind a bit of a drive, I highly recommend Sharrett Subaru in Hagerstown, MD.

Sharrett Subaru | New and Used Subaru dealership in Hagerstown, MD | Serving Frederick, Winchester and Halfway

For sales, talk to Jeff Cross. Sales is great. While they are officially no haggle, He still made a point to make a deal that everyone was happy with. Their service is good, but they can take a while. I plan on arranging a loaner car and go do some shopping while they are working on my OB.

I have had nothing but excellent service from Fitzgerald (White Flint location). John (Jack) Kenworthy is a very knowledgeable service adviser whom I have grown to trust.

Default Stohlman Subaru

Firstly I wanted to say thanks to all of you who helped educate me before my recent Outback purchase! I've been lurking on here for a few months now and I figure it's time to give back with my buying experience now that I'm a happy, new Outback owner.

I bought from Stohlman Subaru in Herndon and from the very beginning the experience was... different, but in a good way. We had already been to most of the major manufacturer dealerships like Honda, Toyota, Ford, to name a few, before trying out Subaru "just for fun". The dealership was almost comically opposite of all our big dealership experiences. We went on a Sunday (they're open the last two Sundays each month) and no one was waiting outside. The shop looked pretty small and run-down from the outside but we persevered and went in. Inside, the salesmen looked up from their desks but didn't make a move until we said we were interested in test-driving a couple models. At this point I didn't have a great feeling about the place. I was thinking, is this place for real? Why aren't they badgering us about their great deals and why aren't all the salesmen pouncing to try and make a sale? They were so relaxed, the manager was even wearing jeans and flip-flops. I wasn't sure what to make of this place.

But "relaxed" was how it was throughout the whole buying process. They never pressured us into buying. It almost felt like they didn't care if they made a sale or not. Every time we came in, everyone was friendly, laid-back, and helpful. At one point I asked a question about the low safety ratings and our salesman said he wasn't sure but that he'd get back to me. I thought, yeah right, I'll never hear back from this guy. But lo and behold, he emailed me later in the day with a bunch of research he had done.

Ok, so three months later we're finally ready to buy. I did my homework, got the True Market Value from Edmunds, read some articles on negotiating; this was my first car purchase and I wanted to be ready to defend myself against the "evil" salesman who would seemingly try to rip me off for a higher commission check. But that never happened. We went in and told them we're ready to buy, we went inside, and the manager showed us the pricing sheet with how much they pay, the MSRP, and how much they can make off the car. Right off the bat, just like that, no negotiating involved, he offered us invoice and showed us that with that price, he'd already eaten a couple hundred off his profit. I was flabbergasted. Even a car friend of mine couldn't believe how easy it was. He said usually he has to sit and haggle for an hour before he can get down to invoice.

Sure, they were a little disorganized in the buying process. For instance, they didn't realize we hadn't signed anything or handed over our money yet until the car was already cleaned and ready to go. We said, "Thanks, we'd love a free car!" Everyone laughed, we finished the business side, and just a few hours after we'd come in we took home our new car.

Annapolis Subaru without question. They are an extremely popular within the Subaru community. They did a rebuild on my transmission. If I have to go to the dealer, I would go there.

I bought my '09 OB Ltd. from Stohlman via the 'net in July '09 and it was one of the easiest transactions ever. I was offered a very good price right off the bat, we ironed out all the details via phone & email to get to the "out the door" price, and then I showed up to pay for the car and pick it up.

Very relaxed experience....

Ed @ Annapolis Subaru, had a deposit on a VW at Valley that I cancelled, asked then to get me a loaded up limited. After a week and no call back from them on it I said cancel the deal. Called Ed @ noon said what is the your best price for the limited, agreed over the phone. I said see you at 6PM, no problem, no deposit. Went in paid and drove out. Easy and fast. Yes I miss the TDI that was on order, but there was to much drama with the TDI problems they are having, so the Subaru and my Audi S5 will have to do for everyday. Oh the 360 Ferrari is for the weekends!

Oh, one thing you should learn, if the dealership waiting area or the shop is dirty more than likely you car will be to when you get it back.A spotless shop means they will probably care about your car. Walk into some of the dealerships mentioned here and see.
