Default Burning smell

2008 Outback 2.5i

Anyone else smell a burning smell? When I have my heat on and come to a stop I smell a burning smell, not really a oil smell more like a burning smell can't explain. I don't really smell it at first while driving, I seem to smell it later like 30 or more minutes of driving. How strange is this!! I go from my 2001 smelling of raw gas to my 2008 burning smell

There is a thread going on these types of smells:

I've got the same issue. My driver's "seat" went out in my heated seats before I bought the car used (43,000 miles). My seat back works but not the bottom seat. But now I smell an electric type smell coming from the passenger seat when the heated seat is turned on. I'm waiting any second for that seat to crap out on me.

I have it. Not quite a burning oil smell, but close. I don't always notice it, but it has been more pronounced in the past few days. I thought I might have spilled some oil during the change last week, but any residual drops should have burned off by now. 08 2.5i. I told my passenger that when it catches fire, it will be easy to find and hopefully covered by warranty

LOL, I thought mine was oil dropped too, mine is not quite an oil burning smell either. The service advisor on the phone today ask me if it smelt like oil or anifreeze, I told him, actually, it didn't smell like either. Def. not antifreeze, almost like a slight oil/rubber smell. lol

my 06 smelled slightly like burning rubber for about the first 40,000 miles. Now at 96000, no more burning rubber smell. Just drive it a bunch, it will go away
