I'm not usually one to bash products, but this seemed like the time and I wanted to let everyone know.
I just picked up an 02 LL Bean Outback.
It had a motor swap along with a new radiator about a year ago.
Well after driving it home from buying it I noticed a leak in the radiator between the plastic tank and the fins.
Nothing you can do about that so I ordered a new one.
A Spectra from Amazon.
Well I went to put it in today.
Everything came apart real easy and it looked like a 30 min swap.
When I looked at the radiator that came out it looked like new since it was only a year old and I find it is a Spectra with the exact same model number as the one in the box.
That was Strike 1. How can one go bad in only a year.
But I had it out and didn't have much choice so I went to put the new one in.
And lo and behold I couldn't get the fan assemblies to fit.
Turns out the lower mounts for the fan are more than 1/2 inch higher than the other exactly the same radiator.
That was Strike 2 and 3.
Thankfully Amazon is great with returns.
I ordered a CSF recommended by someone on the forum and hopefully it will be here by the middle of next week.
As I said I am usually not one to bash, but here is 2 examples of quality issues out of 2 units.
So take this whatever grain of salt you want.
Just wanted to help fellow Subie owners.
