Having spent 7 years of my life in West Lafayette/Lafayette in my late teens and early 20's, I would have to take offense at you listening to Mellencamp in Lafayette. He lives in Bloomington, IN. Now, if you were listening to Guns 'n' Roses or Blind Melon (both Axl Rose and Shannon Hoon were from the Lafayette area), then it would be okay.
