Default 2008 Subaru Outback LL Bean Edition .... ok ad?

Looking at this ad, 2008 Subaru Outback LL Bean Edition AWD w/NAV w/19K

Looks like a good deal, or too good to be true?

Meaning what ? is it a CL scam ad ?

Pictures look similar to some scam ads I've seen, price is 5k under KBB "good" price for CA ... not sure about up there.

I have a Gmail account I use exclusively for "iffy" stuff so I don't get my regular addresses on spam lists.

I'd say scam but I'd check it out anyway . If the "seller" is "in the military and has to do the transaction through ebay" or, like my last "supposed buyer" for a bike "he's out to sea on a research vessel" ... I think you know where this is going...

yep, I will check it out like you said.

I have found the KBB prices to be usually way over here.

Warning Will Robinson! That looks like a dealer (or body shop) car (as evidenced by plastic on the floor) with photos taken in a residential neighborhood to make it look private party. Also, I believe that is the 2.5i LL Bean Edition that was available in 08. (The speedo / tach and steering wheel are the clues -2008 Subaru Outback research site: prices, options, what's new this year, colors, specs, photos and more .) If you want a LLB with the 3.0 H6 engine, that car does not have it. That said, I think it is worth checking out, in person, with someone, yourself or someone else, with strong Subaru knowledge. My car was private party and was priced $3K under the KBB private party price.

I saw the plastic mats, and both license plates are missing.

could be a salvaged title. If I get a car loan, doesn't the bank always make sure its a legit car?

They did show the address of the car, in Kent, WA, see gps map.

You're the prospective buyer, not the bank. I wouldn't trust the bank to check out much more than your ability to repay the loan. Verify the VIN in person and run a carcheck and carfax, but don't necessarily trust them. A lot of bodyshops don't report to these services. That's why it needs a good inspection by a person that knows Subaru bodies and drivetrains.

If the car is mechanically sound and hasn't been in a serious accident, don't be afraid of some minor scrapes and dents. A body shop can give you an estimate to repair them to like-new and you can still come in well under the KBB price after the repairs. I did that with my Lexus.

Ask the seller for a photo of the odometer showing the mileage. They probably won't have one if it is a scam.

We just ran into a scam on a tractor a couple of months ago. Loser scammer claimed to be a widow who just lost her husband in Iraq a few months earlier. My brother-in-law was the one buying a tractor and he wasn't even going to haggle on price because he felt sorry for her. Then she changed the location of the tractor (it suddenly had been turned over to an ebay motors distribution center in Las Vegas so he was supposed to buy sight-unseen) and ebay didn't have any record of the invoice she wanted him to pay (so of course it was ebay's fault and he needed to send her the money directly). He told her to get a new valid ebay invoice for him. Never heard from her again and the ad was still running weeks later.

Beautiful OB. Really nice color combination.
