Free Dyson vacuum from Subaru

We just picked up a 2016 3.6 Limited in Tungsten a couple weeks ago and received a Dyson V6 vacuum courtesy of Subaru today. This is crazy. We've owned many Land Rovers and they never sent us anything this nice (retail is $500). We already have a full size Dyson and love it. This one will be great on another floor of the house or to vacuum out the Outback. Well done, Subaru.

I wonder if this is being sent to customers who ordered cars and had to wait for them but then again others here have not received anything. Strange. I can sure use a new one. I've had a dyson for years and its showing its age. Maybe I'll get lucky, more useful than sunglasses

We didn't order. We found the exact model and color we wanted locally and just went and got it. No idea why we received the Dyson.

You found a 3.6R Limited on a lot and then Subaru randomly sends you a very nice cleaning machine? Go buy a lottery ticket. Well played.

A press release was issued by Subaru yesterday explaining the free vacuums.

Seems it resulted from English-Japanese translation confusion in their customer feedback department. Subaru was addressing complaints from Internet trolls that their vehicles "sucked". The Japanese confused the translation for "suck" and after a series of meetings, confused executives thought customers believed their vehicles should have a vacuum so they decided to send out free dysons as a goodwill gesture about their vehicles "sucking".

All in all, a confusing series of events.

I can do one better.

Here is a video showing confusion resulting from English-Japanese translation of difficult "American" idioms at an executive meeting just prior to the Subaru plant opening in Indiana.

Maybe one of the 'we' isn't telling the other part of 'we' about the glamorous merchandise, fabulous and exciting bonus prizes, thousands of dollars in cash, over a hundred and fifty thousand dollars just waiting to be won as we present our big bonanza of cash on...
